Just bought a pair of orthotics for my tennis shoes. Apparently they help for people needing arch support and ankle stability--my concerns as I just recently sprained my ankle. Anyone have some success with orthotic pads?

I'm not sure how orthotics are going to help your sprained ankle. Usually people wear an ankle brace for added protection. Orthotics can correct a lot, but doubtful it's going to provide you with any real protection for your ankle.

I use custom orthotics in my shoes that I was fitted with because of pronation/arch support concerns my PT had while I was rehabbing a knee injury. They're wonderful.

I do not have custom molded orthotics now, but used them during my cycling career. I am pretty amazed at the quality and effectiveness of Superfeet for tennis, though. I use either green or blue, depending on the shoe (I am a man-tennis shoe-*****). The green is my all-around preference, with great arch support and position. I use the blue for shoes with a higher natural ride height. Hope this helps.

I am 16 an I play national tournaments but I've been out since May with an extreme flare up of spondylolytis in my back at L5. Do any of you all think that they would help?

What are orthotic pads? Friend was able to play tennis with a sprained ankle using an ankle aircast. This was just 2 days after rolling his ankle. Seriously

can't go wrong with superfeet orange... so comfy and supportive. My flat feet can handle them too!

I have high arches and have tried Super Feet green, but I much prefer PowerStep Pinnacle insole. It has much better padding and supports a higher arch.

To BB1872: Jrod is right! you probably need to look at an ankle brace or at least taping for a few weeks until your ankle recovers.
Orthotics may help in some cases with your "footfall" and maybe help knee alignment and your back. To Star 5: be careful with your back, orthotics may not be a bad idea but talk to your osteopath or doctor first and then maybe a podiatrist. |
