Yes, refund sounds like a logical solution. Make sure you do not close dispute/claim on PayPal. Do the update "item not as described" and demand a full refund including shipping charges.

He called two of them 9/10, the third, 7/10. In the pics, two of the rackets appear to have unbroken strings, the third has broken strings.

lf you do a not as described claim with PP, PP won't refund you until you can prove you returned the items to the seller. It will cost you about $15 to send them back to NJ. You will have to eat the return shipping unless Chidi agrees to pay for it. (Doubtful.)

Since you paid $150 for the three rackets shipped, roughly 45 each, I would keep them as long as there are no cracks. You can staple the butt cap back on. That isn't a big deal but Chidi should have either repaired it or mentioned it prior to sale.

You could approach Chidi for a partial refund if you feel the two rackets he claimed were 9/10's are more like 7 to 7.5/10 and that he misrepresented their true condition. He may, or may not, be responsive to that request. The pictures are vague so I can't assess the true condition of the rackets. However, you should know from your own recent experience as a seller that one man's 9/10 is another's 7/10. Just ask GFlyer about his bag.

Up to you how you handle it, but if it was me, I would keep the rackets, request a partial refund from Chidi of about $10 to $20 to be paid prior to closing the PP claim, get better pictures the next time around and never buy from Chidi again. Your alternative is to initiate a not as represented PP claim and pay to return the rackets in which case PP should refund your $150 in about a month. If you return the rackets, make sure you ship to a PP confirmed address with some form of tracking.

Just an observation, both you and Chidi seem a little too young and a little too clueless to be buying and selling things from complete strangers on the internet. You should probably stick with strictly local cash deals on Craigslist or buy from established dealers like TW. If you must buy here, only deal with adults and preferably adults with lots of good references.

Totally agree. You had to fight and scrape just to get them, so the idea of sending them back and getting a refund seems like a longshot.

Post a pic of it showing the crack.

Unless Chidi sends you about a $50 rebate for the cracked frame, return all three for a PP credit.

Really. It is very sad that deals like that are still going on.
But, on the other hand, when people do not check refs before sending money, thinking "oh no, it is not happening to me..ever", things like that WILL happen.
It should be a #1 thing you do BEFORE you buy/sell - check references. If buyer/seller does not have any - DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THAT PERSON. Regardless of how good the deal may sound.

Well...even if they are young....You can be honest regardless of the age. If he is 18, does not excuse the fact that he is a lair. Now, that should not be tolerated at any age. A lie is a lie at any age.
What really gets to me - is the fact that youngsters these days are trying to scam, not make honest deals but, do scams and lies.
Back in a day when i was 18, if my dad would ever find out that i did something like that....i really do not want to think what he would do.

to add, now you know it feels to swindled..the bag you sold to another poster (gflyer) caused him nothing but time and $. This is a sweet way for things to work out for you. Too bad if I sound harsh, but you deserve every bit of this.
