Default Drop weight help needed urgently!!!

Okay so I use an Eagnas 710 combo.

I was pulling tension on the first main of my racket yesterday and the string gripper just flopped down, like it had loosened off in the barrel and was like a dead fish. So my dad took it apart and had a look at it and it all seemed regular so put it back together and tightened it up.

Today I go to string and the string gripper didn't move when lowering the drop weight. Well, it did but not a lot, the weight drops but the string gripper stays in position instead of tightening the string by moving around.

Any help? I tried tightening/loosening all the nuts and stuff on the outside in as many ways possible... so gay.

The spring inside the drum is either loose or broke. If it's broke you can fix it yourself by bending the tip up. I think you can find some instruction on this forum for that.

I'd say just order a new spring from Eagnas for 18 bucks plus 5 shipping. If you are not planning to upgrade to a Wise Tension head, order 2 springs from them as it will break quite often if you string over 60 lbs. Trust me on this as I have replaced 2 springs already.

Wise Tension head? Not really sure what that is

Mate you're a legend, turns out about 1/2 inch of the spring snapped clean off. Sucked a fat one. Well in mate.

Herb sells the bracket adapter. TW does not offer it, though it should.

I have one of those, it is made out of Aluminum and you remove the drop weight assembly and screw it on. Then attach the Wise to the assembly. It works very well.

Wise sell it for about 20 bucks plus shipping.

I am still waiting for my 3rd spring to break and then I will bite the bullet and get the 2086. From the track record of the Eagnas spring, probably in another 3 months...

Here is a picture with measurments I got from Herb. The distance between the holes to mount to the base plate are 2 3/4" (69.85mm) apart. Eagnas cam tower mounts are 55mm apart. You may have to drill hole to mount it.

Nice pics, maybe its better to have it custom made for the holes on challenger 1 if you plan to upgrade to wise tension head, just have the same specs of the adaptor.

It is "L" bar aluminum. All you need is drill press and the propper size bits.

I have a Eagnas Flash 925 crank machine with a Wise. Here is the technique from the Eagnas web site on how to use the Challenger.

http://www.eagnas.com/maxgen1/chgrip.html

I have had better luck pulling the string across the gripper down so the gripper tightens, then drop the weight.

It should, You may have to drill a hole or make a bracket.

My latest spring just start to slip last night. I guess I will have to order a Wise tension head in 2 weeks.
