Chess69, c'mon....tell the truth:

did your religious animus stem from that one halloween in 5th grade when you went 'trick-or-treating' at the local rectory.....and maybe...as a "poisoned alter boy?"

That, I hear is what killed Cardinal Spellman if it'll make you feel any better.....

your 'Far-Lefty-Gomez' friends (as well as the 'far-right' Objective Dannys) who've corrupted this rants-n-raves section for the past 5-7 yrs. can't hang with me.....their (and your?) partisan heads are so far stuck up their arses that they can't see the trees for the feces.....I can run "it" with freedom...via whatever tact I choose to employ......while you and the "board politicos" who are slaves to your respective political stripes (left or right) must attempt to wax 'yuk-yuk' again while paying lip-service to your/their politically like-minded 'amen' brethren.......follow thee, 'n I'll set ya free.

Bloggers in mental straight jackets.

^^^ you've gotta be kidding me..(smirk!)

Ahem, while after reading that holier than thou rant (Philip Nolan? Are you for real DP?...are you the new Talk Tennis "Who's a Patriot"? Police fella?)...Chess9 keep up the good work, bud. The "you hate America" nitwit label is nothing but a comedic interlude to what are otherwise some good posts - from both sides. Nothing steams me more than some smug wannabee taking a person's critical opinion on what is going on with this country's politics and some of it's <faux> religious nonsense and trying to turn it into an "anti-American" lame insult. That act is old

LOL! Come on, DP, up with the truth squads and laughing liberty patrols you could lead. And if you haven't had your lithium today, it's ok, just chill with the tea partay....

Not much at Medicare rates! I'd guess $40 bucks, but the co-pays will be low.

It's interesting how simplistic the anti-religious ranters get.

There were homosexual pedophile Catholic priests who "went rogue" on their bishops, who then seemed terminally fell all over themselves in confusion and stupidity, as well as a false sense of pity/forgiveness for the perps. (Fry them, I say; though I daresay they'll eventually face quite a frying!)

THEREFORE, QED, all Catholics---no, all Christians---no, ANYONE with religious interests are evil. Even the flippin' Buddhists!

Crappy logic there, my friend. With respect to voodoo, it's a real leap to compare voodoo to theology: one relies on superstition, while the other tries to apply serious and sustained reason to inquire into matters of faith. (You should note that the Catholic Church has been quite upfront about its belief that God endowed us with both reason and faith, and both are routes to the truth. For this reason, the cranks that religious people are, for instance, against evolution simply shows ignorance by the basher of their bashee) You could just as easily make a similar false equivalence between philosophy and palm-reading, or current scientific methods and superstition.

Let me get this straight max...are you suggesting that some religions are "superior" to others?

^^^ Right! LOL

What's funny is how ignorant it sounds. I can't believe that someone of Max's age can't see that it's his bias to see that way. He can't really think that voodoo practitioners feel that their beliefs are superstitions and anything short of "serious and sustained reason." What a fool.

The scientific method is superstition? Are you trying to be funny?!? What an ignorant post. Anything discovered or posited via the scientific method has ONE CLEAR AND SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE from superstition/faith, and that's that it can be falsified. Any and all scientific theory has this quality. Name one tenet of your or any other person's faith that is falsifiable. You can't. And that's because faith BY DEFINITION is un-falsifiable. Faith is belief without proof. Science is belief WITH proof.

Oh, so the Catholic church holds the trademark/copyright on this type of thinking?

Er, Robbie sweatheart, BOTH sides were cited in my post (i.e. the far-left "Chess9's" AND the far-right "Objective Danny's") so if you want to claim the "truth" then know that you missed my 'middle-ground' point....but alas, you (like the Objective Dan-o's on the other side of the aisle) with your blindly partisan heads so far .....ah, what's the use?.... ya both are gonna cherry-pick and swipe as you see fit. Fine. Fire away.

Speaking of swipes, swipes are graciously accepted (acknowledging your personal needs), but while accepted, they will be graded:

"truth squads" - A tad over-the-top; 'dramatically' lame. Grade: C-

"laughing liberty patrols" - Overstated, heavy-handed. Grade C
(have to say that even from haughty lil' ol' you I would hope to expect something more genuinely witty, however 'cheeky')

"had your lithium" - I have to say this one escaped dumb lil' ol' me. I know Lithium to be a toxic heavy metal commonly found in both "rechargable" batteries (power tools, video cams) and "button cell" batteries (watches, hearing aids) along with silver and mecuric oxide, nickle cadmium, etc.; items whose eventual disposition should be managed in an environmentally responsible and prudent manner. So frankly, I didn't know where the hell you were trying to go with this one. Grade: incomplete

"just chill with the tea partay" Oh dear...lol..grasping at straws are we? Funny in a sad way. Grade: D-

"if Cleveland can't get to the world series, what's to love?" Nice. "Basehit" approaching the desired pithy/cheeky. Grade: B+

All that aside, while I myself can relate to "I hate America" in terms of "I hate what America has become," you appear to harbor a more board-based sentiment, one that goes beyond the semantical difference between the two "in quote" statements above. Warts and all, "that" country (including yours truly) did elect a man president; a guy with the middle name 'Hussein' who wouldn't have had a snowball's chance in hell just 20 years ago. I don't know exactly what that says about that country's people, but imho it does say something. And as many from other countries on this board have been very strident in their finger-wagging and 'moral' scolding, I'd like to see them put their money where their mouth is should they be wearing that same "shoe" on their foot. In many other threads, you seem to--no, you DO--take a perverse delight in ridiculing this country's citizens; it's people. While I too am dissatisfied ("hate") with what this country has become as well as the increasingly aweless behavorial norms of its citizenry, I stop short of wholesale animus. This is just a non-flamming observation from my perspective in summing up our differences thusly: I hate what America's become while you seem to hate America's PEOPLE in general; big differrence between the two imho.

As for the thread topic, I don't believe such a mindless 'witch doctor' type of clause exists let alone it passing muster.

Mulligan: pleeze "Critical examination" would be fine....but that's usually not in play with my pal's threads. They're threads usually platformed off a partisan blog site (cherry-picking) with the same "M.O." in mind: to ridicule or put-down anyone/anything with a contrarian viewpoint or different lifestyle (read: "hick"). Again, to me the idea of health care subsidizing an 'incantation' to me is patently absurd and would be absolutely impossible to include in any health care bill. Nah, these type threads are really more about fronting target practice against "them" heyseeds. That said, Ok, grade MY 'Philip Nolan' with an overhanded D-minus; that was indeed lame and well, fair's fair.....smirk yerself.

Good night, Good bye and God bless. That'll be $40.00 bucks please. Do you seriously believe this OP's cited source?

For anyone to think that this is actually part of the "Health bill" process can only offer a stark light on the low expectations of the Democratic House leadership, the failure of public education among board members, or a select religious intolerance display... Maybe a combo platter of all three.

I guess Pelosi desperately needed to pay off some little blue haired ladies from Boston as just another special interest in the way of taking over another 20% of the economy.

But the religious intolerance on this board?
The intolerance against the VooDoo religion, of course... Anyone who reads any threads as history knows about the Christian form.

You're right, Manfred. We should all try to be more tolerant of criminal negligence. After all, the government is.

Conservatives need not worry about healthcare reform. No meaningfull reform will occur. With Baucus in the pocket of every insurance company, pharm, hospital, and medical device maker within a thousand miles, and Lieberman putting on his grumpy old man act, and the 48 other stooges in the Senate, one may be certain that whatever is done by this Congress will be like Tampa Bay playing New Orleans. I wouldn't watch it either....
