Default Higher Priced: Chicago or St. Vincent Prostaff?

I'm curious as to which one would fetch higher prices, all else the same (condition). I'm not looking for the answer to "which one should or shouldn't be more desirable," but rather what the current market is like for each one, relatively.

All things being equal for decent condition, playable frames, I'd say the St. Vincent. Although Chicagos have been getting closer.

Although, if both were new, unused, plastic on handle (although I'm not sure if the earliest models had that), hangtags with cases.....I'd say they'd be pretty close.

(....but isn't desirability reflected in the market price?)

Thank you. I've been offered a Chicago in reasonable condition, but would like to know if the price is fair. If anyone else could comment on the market price of these two, I'd appreciate it.

$100, but he'd be happy to go lower. It's about 7/10, with red primer showing from underneath scrapes from 3 to 9.

$100 for a Chicago is already a good deal I think. If you can get him to get it lower that would be even better.

I have been tracking the prices of PS85s on the bay and it seems to me that St. Vincent's are fetching way higher prices (usually around $220). A couple Chicagos pop every once in a while but since the description does not say St. Vincent or have a Q in the buttcap they usually only go in the $160-180 range.

Sampras was SV-exclusive. that would account for higher value of SV versions

....not in my experience. I have many bumperless PS85 in my collection. Every one of the Chicago version has lower SW than the SV counterpart.

The specs are measured on a Babolat RDC with same strings (VS17/SPPP17L), same grip size (4 3/8 ), same grip (Fairway), etc. etc. All static weights are all within few grams, but the SW of the SV are at least 7 pts. higher than that of the Chicago.

I'm not 100% since I've sold several here on TW and the *bay, but I "think"....

5 Chicago
6 SV (3 bumperless)
1 Taiwan
3 or 4 China (early and late)
2 PS85 w/ PSTour90 pj
3 JKramer Staff
1 Staff

Hello.....

I'm comparing a bumperless Chicago vs. a BUMPERLESS SV.
