Default Why do people think a shoe is bad if...

...it doesn't fit their feet?

I have narrow, high-arched feet. Generally, I read the reviews and descriptions looking for shoes that will fit my foot shape, then I order. I know to stay away from brands and designs that are for wide, flat feet, and am at this point more or less likely to avoid medium width shoes as well (Babolat Team All Court III are medium), because I don't like having to wear two thick socks to keep from sliding around, which I've found to be the case.

I am consistently baffled at people who give shoes a bad review solely because they do not fit their feet. Why does such completely irrational behavior persist on this board?

Good point, if only one type of shoe existed (pretend its wide) than all us guys with narrow feet would be screwed.

When a shoe doesn't fit you properly you immediately have a negative view of it. Even if it is very durable you are not going to be happy with it. Right or wrong I think this is just human nature.

Because shoes are supposed to fit your feet. It's that simple.

Personally, I love to look of the CB 1.3's but I have a wide foot with low arch and the perceived wisdom that one should purchase a half size smaller doesn't apply because while they fit lengthwise, they pinch the outside 3 toes meaning I have to get a half size large.

I got the Wimbledon edition in size 8 and the white/gold version a few months later in the same size but they fit smaller!

Ideally, they should issue a wide version but commercially they won't because a) wider feet are probably in a small minority and b) they release a different colourway for each major meaning retailers would probably be left with too much unsold stock. Shame for us flatfeet!

I think this is quite a bit of truth here. A size 11 D width is supposed to be a size 11 D width, especially if it's from the same company. Obviously, the reality is that it doesn't work out this way. So in essense a shoe that doesn't fit like it's "supposed" to isn't doing it's job from the get go therefore it's already failing at step 1 ergo the bad reviews. Since width is the most common issue for shoes not fitting, "compromising" by going up or down a size in length is also going to result in a bad fit which is also going to result in bad experiences with the shoe.
