Default wrist problems

so this occurred about a week ago when I was lifting some heavy bags of fertilizer and mulch (more than I was physically able to).

the little bone on my wrist (not sure what its called but the one that you can see that kinda 'humps' hump when you look at the topside of your hand on the outer wrist) hurts when I bend my hand backwards. i can do all normal things, like lift bags, all your normal day stuff. but when I play tennis such as on a forehand, when I make that 90 degree angle with my wrist and contact the ball, I feel pain in the area of that bone on my wrist. its happening with both wrists at the moment and have trouble playing.

what should I do?

The most important thing is to let the wrists rest until the pain=inflammation subsides. Then start your tennis up gradually with a shorter hitting session or two to make sure you don't have a reinjury that will start the process all over again.

That's what I figured. Not sure how long i should let them heal for and whether I should maybe ice it or not every now and then?

.... and Ice. I have the exact same problem and haven't gotten rid of it in a couple of years. WHen you ice I suggest then entire length of your arm from hand to elbow.

I'm gonna avoid playing for a bit. I can hit forehands ok with very little pain, but I can't hit backhands for some reason my left wrist can't take it.

Sounds like you aggravated or worse, tore a tendon in your wrist.

I was having terrible pain when I switched to the Head MG Rad Pro. I had started weight lifting (doing primarily bench presses, and arm exercises). I dropped the MG Pro and the pain lessened. After about a month of not hitting with the MG Pro and switching to the Donnay Pro One TW OS the pain went away. I started taping my wrist and everything is so far so good. I occassionally ice it or use a heat wrap and everything has been OK. Ultimately decided on playing with the Head YT Pro and it seems the stiffer the racquet the less shock to the wrist. I have noticed that harder poly strings (i.e. Lux) cause a mild discomfort.
