Default What happened at the end of Djokovic/Monfils?

O.K.

I just watched the match again (replay on Nova). Sorry, but my fiance is in Italy preparing to give an exam and Sunday night in Athens everything is closed except the Bars... so more Tennis for me!

During Championship Point.. Monfils' first serve sails long on him..

On his second service attempt.. right after he tosses the ball, someone in the stands yells out ( Clearly audible and deliberate ) and the match ends with a double fault by Monfils.

I doubt it was someone from the majority French supporters.. Could it have been one of Novak's supporters? ( we know they have a history of doing such things ).

It also happened before earlier in the Tie Break, forcing Monfils to stop his service motion.

I'm not saying Monfils would have won without the interference, as he was down 6-3 in the Tie Break... but?

Could this be the reason why Monfils did not congratulate Djokovic during the presentation ceremony?

They hugged at the end. I didn't see any love lost.

I've seen the match twice. It didn't sound like all the previous chants of 'Allez Gael'.. at that point in the match Monfils was down 3-6 in the break and 2nd serving Novak's Championship Point- Why would a French fan decide to jepordize Monfil's 2nd serve at championship point.

How is it Novak's fault if someone decided to throw Monfil's off? I don't find Monfils the type to whine or complain. I just find it odd how he did not congratulate Novak on the win or for playing a great tournament. Again, I'm not saying that Monfil's might have won if it was not for the heckler, but it definately would not have ended in a double fault.

Monfils not congratulating Novak just tells you a lot about Monfils, (not that he meant it), but did not know any better. As far as the rest is concerned, you may want to give ATP a call and start an investigation to rerun the tapes and see why Monfils DF at the end!!!!

Monfils had 5 DF's up until that point in the match, so it's not as if he was uncapable of 'choking' on championship.

Maybe I'm just upset the way the match ended.. DF on championship point in a tie break!
