Default Hybrid vs Poly

I was wondering if the tension maintenance in a hyrbrid string setup (poly mains/syn gut crosses) is better than a full poly setup? If it is, is it significantly better?

I've been using full poly and I've found that after it loses tension, it becomes way too strong. I dont need the durability of polys. I fit very flat so I don't ever break polys. I probably break hybrids in about 2 months so durability is not an issue. I was wondering if I should continue to use full poly or switch to hybrids. I just want something that isnt really really strong when the tension drops a lot. (like cyber blue) Any suggestions?

It just depends on the particular hybrid and particular poly. I personally feel that people obsess way too much about polys losing tension on these message boards, and that while they do lose some, not as much as the people claiming that their poly 'went dead' in two hours. Use whichever you feel better playing with. There's no single right answer.

Oh okay thanks. I wasn't talking about just a few hours though. I'm talking about 2 weeks of playing almost everyday. I know there should be significant tension loss, but I'm trying to look for something that doesn't become ridiculously strong when tension drops. I was thinking about Cyber Blue as mains w/ Prince Syn Gut w/ Duralast as crosses Or OG Sheep Micro as crosses. I was also thinking about using MSV Focus Hex as mains too. Any suggestions/comments?

Try one of the new CoPoly strings, that has much better tension & (MORE IMPORTANTLY) elasticity maintenance - for instance:

1. Signum Pro Tornado
2. Signum Pro Hyperion
3. Tecnifibre BlackCode
4. MSV HeptatTwist
5. Kirscbaum ProLine II
6. MSV Focus Hex
7. Weisscannon TurboTwist
8. WeissCannon Silverstring

You could do some full jobs at different tension level with these and see what you like best.
You could then hybrid the one you likes best with a good multi, with good tension & elasticity maintenance in the crosses - and see if you prefer that setup.

High quality Multis with very good tension and elasticity maintenance & decent durability are:

1. Babolat Xcel Power 1.30
2. Tecnifibre X-One 1.30 (avoid the red)
3. Tecnifibre NRG2 1.30
4. Babolat Xcel Standard 1.30
5. Wilson NXT Tour 1.30

If you're looking for a hybrid that lasts longer than the full poly job, the PSGD 15L does last forever in the crosses. I've had college players that it could last a full week, which is unheard of for them. (I have guys who break Alu in three days on an 18x20 string bed)

Main string dominates playing characteristics, so crossing with syn gut would not add much more tension maintenance. Poly main could saw cross through before poly goes dead, actually shortening life.

If you are getting 2 weeks of playing (over 20 hrs), call it good because you would not do much better no matter what, unless going natural gut just from tension maintenance standpoint.... But I suppose you like poly for some reason, likely firm stringbed and spin production.
