Default Babolat Revenge 17g: My take

Babolat Revenge 17g:

What a string! I got my two free sets with the purchase of my Bab Pure Storm GT, which I leaded up evenly to about 11.3 oz. I decided to string at 57 lbs, full set, cause reports Ive read indicated that it held tension very well.

Initial impresions: It feels stiff when its just been stringed, and like the other co-polys Ive tried (Lux BB and Bab Hurricane pro) it asks you to swing fast to really get what it offers. It has a very nice feel to it, comfortable, Id say, but thats maybe cause I was used to my Gosen Poly Ice and Gosen OG Sheep hybrid.

2nd thoughts: After having hit for a while now, and going on my 2nd set of Revenge, I can say that I really really like this string. Feel is great, no discomfort at all. It has very good control, where I feel the ball deeps at the end if you give it enough racquet speed, so now that Ive gotten used to the string, I can place the ball very well. Power is great, maybe the thing it offers the most. You feel the string pocketing the ball, specially on serves, and the POP! sound you hear makes you feel really really great about your good shots
Durability is another plus, it last a very long time and holds tension very well, as the description assures. It is a much more lively string than Bab Hurricane Pro, and although at the end it starts to feel dead, you still get a very good feeling till it breaks.
Serves feel great as well, you get a lot of pop from the string without sacrificing accuracy; flat serves have a boom on them and great amount of spin, specially on kicker serves, IF you have the proper imput of course.
The only place where I didnt feel that great was volleying. Im not the strongest volleyer out there but I had the most trouble with volleys with this string, for some reason, maybe it launches the ball a bit too much and you just need to get used to the power it has, but that might be just me.

Worst thing: price. Dunno if Id spend 16 bucks a set for any string or even 225 bucks for aprox. 18 string jobs out of a reel. Too bad, cause I feel like its a great string, I could even say it will rival Luxilon BB (hope I dont get slaugheterd for this by Lux fans!).

Thanks for the review. I was thinking about trying this string as well. Im a long time Luxilon user and im looking for something that holds tension better and is a little less harsh on the arm.

Default Revenge

I've been using Luxilon Alu power....but it dies to fast for me since I hybird w/gut. It is also hard on the elbow, after hitting with it for a year.I tried Revenge recently & I agree with the first post! Will no longer buy Alu. I was looking for a softer string and a longer lasting one....this is much better. Does anyone know the stiffness rating on Revenge?

Imalil & Hotrocks, I dunno if some consider the Revenge as a harsh string on the arm, but it felt great to me, then again, Ive never really had too big an arm issue, aside from a bit of discomfort or pain at times. I used to use Gosen Poly Ice, which is almost weed whaker string, so anything after that feels softer to me!

Thumbs up Adrenaline..........

If you guys like Lux string but want something that holds tension better, lasts longer and has good feel, then try Luxilon Adrenaline. We just completed a string test for the USRSA on this string and it's the first Lux string that played great for 12+ hrs and held tension very well.

The other great thing about it is it has great feel; a soft co-poly string with all of the other Lux attributes. This is the first Lux string that we have approved for recreational players; very impressive. It strings up very tight so drop the tension accordingly and string slowly to avoid over stretching the string.

Cheers, TennezSport

Hey TennezSport - would you call this new Luxilon string the Luxilon string, Luxilon should have made 2 years ago

What tension level should I string it at, if I use it as a cross in a hybrid with VS 16 mains ? I normally string my hybrid favorite VS 16 mains @ 60 lbs and Hyperion cross @ 56 lbs and really like this tension and hybrid.
Have you tested Signum Pro Hyperion and Signum Pro Tornado yet ?

Hyperion gave me much of the same I liked about the Luxilon Alu BB Power, but with better feel, better tension and elasticity maintenance and cooler black color
I wonder if I should buy a reel of the Lux Adenaline instead of a reel of the Hyperion - you know when the Luxilon Adenaline will be available in shops in Euroland or at TW USA ?

Thanks

Pab,
being an experienced use of PHT, did you keep the same tension? I'm sad to say that I get some bicep pains at times, should I drop the tension? I play with 62Lbs for most strings. If it says it's really stiff, I drop the tension to 60LBs; I like to stay close to my range.

I have Pro Hurricane, not the tour. Yeah, basically used the same tension, I strung a full PH at 58 lbs and with Revenge at 57 lbs. I liked the revenge string a lot more, maybe more even so because its a thinner, 17g. It feels really good and is very durable, to me at least.
