Actually, I'm sure plenty of players can do that.

No nearly THAT crazy of an angle, though. But again, this is doubles so Fed has more to work with.

Um...actually all of them can. I've seen Sampras do it...heck, I've seen Agassi do it (and he doesn't have magic touch). Any pro can do this....and they have. This is just a little slice touch angle. Pretty basic. The important thing is getting to the ball.

I've done that playing mini-tennis. It's not a shot I own, by any means, but if I tried it enough times I can hit a few of them.

Wonder if Federer can do this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JDlK...om=PL&index=61 P.S - I'm just kidding , I'm sure he can overhead smash , of course no one smashes as well as Pete though. |

That is really not such a difficult shot.
The one shot in that category that most amazed me ever was hit by Marcelo Rios. He did not even slice it, but hit his famous topspin backhand with such feel and touch, that in addition to the ball appearing to go parralel with the net, it did not sound. Can you imagine that, a ball so softly caressed that it does not even make a sound on the stringbed. That must have been on of the strangest shots I have ever seen.

It's not an overly difficult shot to make for pros. As for Pete's slam dunk, I usually saw it more as a showboating type shot.

both shots aren't too complicated I'd say. of course, you first have to pull of this with the fast reaction roger had (ball bounced twice on the net) and with the precision, bud out of 50 times I could hit that should a couple of times too I think.
and the sampras-overhead smash...isn't really special too me!? I'm more the badminton player than tennis, so maybe that is the reason I find it totally normal (you often/usually smash like this in badminton) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ2k-tsX5KE |
