I just read an article on Tomic who is only 17 that he is 194 centimeters tall. Thats about 6 foot 4 inches. It also said he is still growing. I can definatly see him as a big contender for the upcoming year. He seems to be pretty confident in his tennis but worried about his height though.
You can read the rest of the article here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...30/2782962.htm |

I mean as a big contender amoung the other up and coming juniors and for those guys within the top 100. Even challenging the players in the top 30.
I was thinking he might make it to the third round of the aussie open |

He didn't seem that tall on his match against Gilles Muller in this year's AO.
Have to see how the boy is moving now, that's gonna be the main thing to watch, if his height is either going to hinder him or if it'll be a welcome advantage for him to be a top contender. |

I don't know what it is, but I'm not a fan of this kid.

He's that tall, but he's got a weaker serve than Nadal at 17. If you can't captilize on your height to serve bigger, its basically uselss or even a handicap

He was in the 180's when he played muller.
the 194cm "kid" is fine. A little introverted around strangers but life of the party when hanging out with friends. He can wear whatever he feels comfortable in, QLD is hot and we have plenty 35+ degree days coming up in melbourne. hopefully tomics groth spurt has stopped. Shame to lose him to basketball...hahhaa

He has a good all around game but no real weapons to challenge anyone in the top 30 at this point, and possibly never.

He was in the 170's the year before that. Living in Qld I've seen a lot of him over the past 6 years and it's really been quite amazing to see how much he's grown in the last two. Went from being just a touch shorter than me to about 1/2 a foot taller.
The concern at present is that he'll go through what Fromberg did and require a year or so to adjust to his full height and relearn the geometry of the court. |

With Del potro having shown it's possible to succeed. I believe if he continues to 198cm he'll still have a shot at top20. hehe maybe the new ideal player height is 196cm? Someone better put a brick on his head quick.

His game may take a step back to acclimate to the new length. But at least in that match against Muller he showed that he is able to handle the pressure - and that's huge (pun intended) on the tour. |

the commentators at the a.o wildcard playoff were talking about how he has great anticipation and feel for the ball/court. his movement and shots seem effortless and if he begins to bulk up a little, i reckon he will do very well.

Sharapova kept growing while she was on the tour too. I think she grew an inch or two after she one her wimbledon title.

maybe its the fact that he stood up Lleyton Hewitt at a practice session, claiming that he was better than him?
i dont like him to much either. i like the russian guy who beat him, and Jordan Cox en route to the boys title at Wimby. his game looks really nice...if only he had a one-hander |
