One MEAN forehand (with pic)

From Paradon Srichaphan. I am not too familiar with him but man he's got some solid strokes there. 1/250 sec and the shutter is not fast enough to freeze his swing. That is auto sports speed territory!

And a good thing it isn't, or you'd have seen him flipping off internet detractors even while spanking a forehand.

Paradorn's forehand was nothing to sneeze at, but it was his backhand that really impressed me.

Yes, his backhand is very solid. A bit flat compared to the top one handers right now.But it is very powerful.

1/250 won't freeze any forehand.

He hasn't played in years and I don't see him ever returning to the tour.

His forehand is similar to Delic or Kendrick. Not the stroke production but the fact that all three hit it so close to the net that they have almost no margin for error and, therefore, hit to their forehand more then a few times and you'll get usually get the unforced error.

His backhand was what impressed people, but more because it was a very good looking shot rather then being that effective. Same issue with hitting it so low over the net.

Good to see he's still playing currently.
Had the game for top 50.
Never had the special shot or special anything other than grind it out style.
He had to mentally work harder than most of the more talented or harder hitters, his mental game being tough enough for top 20 for a little while.
Great player, just not great enough with all the competition around.

By definition he had the game for top 10. As he was top ten.

But if you mean his "natural ranking" I would agree with something more like in the 30-40 area.

I think he was the highest ranked player ever from Asia and the only Asian player to ever crack the top 10 ?

He was (probably still is) a superstar in Asia.

That is true. Michael Chang is American so he doesn't count. Paradon is still the top ranked male Asian in the ATP's history.
