You guys convienently forget the Favre of Green Bay 2000-2006, the Favre that was a turnover machine at times.

Let me make this clear - I am not saying Favre sucks, nor am I saying that he's not one of the greatest QBs of all time. I'm just saying that he's vastly overrated by many, a point you guys are doing a great job of proving on your own with your Santa Clausification of Favre.
"You Favre backers"

I'm not a big fan of Favre. I'm a Saints fan. I'm from New Orleans.

Anyway, I took issue with you saying that Brett "can't reclaim his glory days" or something like that. And I, correctly, pointed out that said claim is absolutely absurd, considering he just had the best season of his life and if that "league's best RB" hadn't fumbled 3 times in one game that old has-been who "can't reclaim his glory days" would be preparing for another Super Bowl as we speak.

Oh, and even at 40 he's still the toughest SOB on the field.

I didn't say that. CCNM said that. Do I agree with that? I'm admittedly tired of the whole Favre soap opera and the ESPN infatuation with him sickens me. So reguardless of whether he can still play or not, I just hope he goes away or at least makes up his mind one way or another and stop it with this Hamlet business every offseason.

Now he says he's more than likely done. But then when August comes and he gets the itch again, he'll probably be back again. That's what I don't like. Make up your mind one way or another, and stick with it.

And yes give me P. Manning, Vince Young, Brady, Brees, Big Ben, Rivers, McNabb, and Rodgers over Favre right now. None of those guys would have thrown that INT at the end of that game. Yes they fumbled alot, but at the end of the game you dont want your QB making idiotic throws to lose it. That's Favre Mantra.

With that Vikings team this year Trent Dilfer could have got them to the super bowl.
You can only play your schedule. That's the way it goes and by the NFL basing strength of schedule on performance the previous year, it's allowed a nice variety of teams to get into the Super Bowl.

I know you didn't just put Vince Young in that group!? Was that a mental mistake? Did you watch the San Diego/Jets game...Rivers is very capable of throwing bad passes in key posessions, as is McNabb.

Hey, Dilfer had a few good years with the Bucs and won the big one with the Ravens but he's not getting the Vikes to the Super Bowl.

I don't understand how someone can be one of the greatest QBs of all time and then be called overrated in the next sentence. I also don't understand how people can say it took more than Favre to make it to the Championship game but when they lost it was all on him. If I were a Viking fan I would sure want him back next year.

Me too. You can't point out the interceptions without mentioning the passing records he holds (yards, TD's, completions, wins as QB, only QB to win AP MVP 3 years in a row). He owns or shares nearly every relevant passing/QB-related record. JB fan mentions Favre from 00-06 but the Packers also won their division in 02-04 and 07, going to the NFC championship in 07. He had a few down/bad for his standards years but also ~15 good ones.

Look back at Favres games this year. the first half of the season they had him running the Tavaris Jackson Playbook and AP was racking up yardage pretty good. Then Childress pull the reigns back and lets Favre be more of Favre. And what happens Favre turns into Favre and chucks the season ending pik.

Had Vince Young QBd that team in the NFC Championship I think the vikins win it. I actually think Brett Favre is the only guy that even tries to throw that pass. In his MVP years maybe he has enough on it to get the ball there before the defender. But he doesnt now and hasnt for a while.

The vikins didnt need a shoot the lights out QB they need a possesion oriented no turnover QB which Favre did great with during the regular season. If they trade for McNabb next year I like thier chances of losing in the NFC championship again.

You lost me at Vince Young...seriously, I almost passed out. If you pull up the 2009 stats you will see that Favre (ranked 2nd) blew Young (ranked 18th) off the field. They both had 7 regular season interceptions but Favre had 33 TD passes vs 10 by Young. Young had a 2000+ rusher on his team. Favre QB rating is 107.2 while Youngs is 82.8 and the list goes on...

But Vince Young doesnt lose the NFC championship game. Heck he might have even ran for a touchdown with 19 seconds left instead of throwing a pic.

With the defense and running game the Minny has, they need a ball control type of QB to make a few plays. Favre is not and will never be that guy. I just don't think he was good fit for that team. Actually a QB who turns it over in crucial times isnt a fit for any team

I cant remember watching Brett Favre and thinking "Man Brett Favre put that team on his back and won that game"

The sad thing is the Vikings didnt need him to be that guy, but he feels like he has to be the guy to win it, and because he cares so much and tries so hard he ends up failing

Vince isn't that guy because he will never be in that position. Case in point...I'll never be that guy to choke away the Wimbledon title because I'm not good enough to get there.

I htink if Vince was QB of the vikings they lose 1 more game. He doesnt make the play Favre made to beat SF. But Vince wouldnt have turned it over at the end of NFC Champ game. Thats the risk you take with Favre and his style. But that style has won anybody anything in the NFL in a long time.

I agree with the statement in bold. Vince Young won't get a team to a championship game, ever.

BCS championship game...one of the best performances in CFB history...Vince has had plenty of naysayers, but he's proven that he's a winner. Titans 0-6 before Vince, 8-2 w/ Vince this season. Now lets be clear I am not putting him ahead of Favre, but Young has proven he has what it takes to win in the NFL.
