Lee beat rusedski on grass first round at stella artois. What do you guys think of his chance here in this tournament, Again i probably have mentioned this that he is a very solid player and hes got game to compete against the world's best players. he has beaten Roddick, Ferrero, Sampras, and many others, he is a VERY soild player.

Rusedski still plays? Does he hibernate all year except for the month long grass season?

Before we run away with this idea, let me put things in perspective. Lee's record against Roddick is 1-6, and he has NEVER beaten Sampras. He's never beaten Hewitt or Agassi either. The only other top 10 player he's beaten aside from Roddick and Ferrero is Moya. Frankly, its not a major surprise that he beat Rusedski, who is hardly the player he used to be, even on grass.

Don't mention Greg and grass in the same sentence, you might give him ideas

Unlike most Asian players he plays an attacking game. Maybe that's why he has better result on grass.

What about Srichaphan? I'd say Srichaphan has more of an attacking game than Lee does. I would classify Lee's game as more of a counter-punching style, but he does come to net when he has an easy putaway.

Srichapan is top 20 material and in a good year top 10. Lee is more of a journeyman pro.. reasonable in all departments but he doesn't have a huge weapon that can hurt the opposition.

Speaking of Asian players, did you also see that this guy Lu Yen-Hsun (is he from China?) beat another big left-handed server on grass, Wayne Arthurs, in the 1st round? He actually beat him soundly, 6-2, 6-4. Unusual for both Rudsedski and Arthurs to lose in the 1st round on grass.

True, unusual. But Arthurs just played badly. Something like eight or nine doublefaults in two sets - that's unacceptable at the ATP level. And he didn't have the large ace number to match it like he usually does - he just didn't have a good day.

I would not classify Lee's game as "counter-punching".
Lee is a great shot maker. I think he's got great talent.
Lee is somewhat streaky player, though and very fragile
mentally. He often gives up a match too early.
I think he still plays amateurish game. He does not have
mental toughness and game management skill of top players.
I think he started tennis too late to make top 20 or 10
before he retires(he is now 28 or something?).....

I'm not sure I agree that Lee gives up matches too early. I was there at the Siebel Open this year and watched Lee come back from 1-4 down in the 3rd set to beat Spadea 6-4 in the 3rd. He held mentally tough and won the last five games against a very good player in Spadea (now top 20?) to win the match. I was very impressed. Lee and Spadea actually played very similar games except that I thought Lee was better at the net.

I'm pretty sure Lu Yen-Hsun is from Taiwan. He's shown a few flashes here and there but needs to work on the mental game. Woohoo Go Asians!!
