Default Leather grip longevity

Has anyone stored leather grips unused for any length of time? I'm wondering what sort of shelf life they may have before they dry out.

I'm more interested in new grips that are not installed on a racquet, just kept in storage.

Unless they're stored in a particularly harsh environment, unused leather grips should be fine. You could consider using an airtight plastic container to seal out the elements.
