Default Modern fh technique qsn - swing into contact mechanics?...

Okay, the incoming ball is homing in on your fh side and you've done your turn etc, the racket's back (in 'the slot', as I like to think of it) and there's just that tiny pause/lag before you swing into the ball...

Qsn:
do you think in terms of the shoulder leading the swing?... or do you consciously lead with the elbow into the contact with the ball - as if the elbow is pulling/leading the arm/racket?... or is the 1st followed by the 2nd (shoulder leads the elbow which pulls into the ball)?... or something different?

Just wondering if ppl can help me out here as I recently recalled this particular bit of technique (interestingly from the days I used to play with Babs) and tried to apply it in practice... the result: I thought it instantly helped provide more whip, oomph and definitely spin, though it's harder to time consistently than more linear, less modern stroke or whatever, and would be prone to breaking down I fear in more heated battle, if you will... anyhow...

What's the sequence?... how do ppl break down and put into words the mechanics of the swing into contact on the fh?

TIA,

R.

For your first question, i like to lead with the shoulder, followed by my elbow then wrist/racket. Helps me get more whip. Although there is just a slight lead, too much and you may start rotating your shoulders too early.

Don't really understand your second question.

i think you are hitting with pull stroke. By the time you start your forward swing, there is several ways you can do to increase racket speed:
1. snap your upper body from your hip
2. snap your entire arm (double bend fixed) by leading the swing by your shoulder
3. snap your forearm by leading the swing by your elbow.
4. snap the racket by leading the swing by the wrist
5. combination of all, or combination some of these.

If you have time, lead with a trunk twist.
If you don't, lead with just the shoulder.
