Default My Court Sense! Where did it go?

I'm back from a month from not playing tennis and the results are crappy. My court/ball sense and my reaction time has disintegrated. Hitting every ball was a struggle. It seemed like all of the balls were moving twice as fast as before. I kept on lunging for every ball. Any stroke that required me to set up just broke down.

The balls went everywhere. I mishitted almost all of them. I also hit so many of them late. Some of them I just swung and missed. I hit the top of some of the balls.

The only things that didn't suffer were my net game and my serves.

How do I get my court/ball senses back and how do I make my reaction time back to where it used to be?

Get your self 2 working. He's asleep, he needs to be awakened.

Just hit a few balls by paying attention to where the ball is, and when you're going to hit it, and Self 1 won't get in the way. ^^

I have the same EXACT problem, had a 6 months pause though because of being in the army. Have played 80 hours in 1½ week now so I am making progress.

It happens especially after a long break. Just keep practicing you should get it back soon. Try shortening up your backswing for some time and get into rhythm. Longer the break, the longer it takes to get back. I'd say it shouldn't take more then a week..

Thanks for the response, guys.

Today was the second day I played after the break and I've vastly improved. My backhand is suffering the most though because it takes the most effort to time correctly. I'm playing safe and consistent though, which I want. My feet are still very lazy though and don't let me go into a favorable position to hit a shot most of the times.
