The idea of people watching these types of movies on laptop computers is depressing...

Well, that's better than watching it on a laptop. But God intended us to see certain movies in the theater, and it's too bad we don't always have that opportunity.

Its not a standard Hollywood action film and should not be viewed with that mindset...if you watch the movie with some attention you will be rewarded.
The demo disk for my Blu-ray player is cinematically beautiful also. That doesn't make it a great movie.

Thanks for the primer on how to properly enjoy "cinema" but I am very open-minded when viewing and there hasn't been a movie made that I was unable to comprehend.

While the TRL may have had a great cast, the casting for the movie was awful. What I said in my previous post was that the TRL was a great sleep inducer. For 98% of the population it will outperform Ambien. It's a movie only a film student could love and even one of those, speaking honestly, would admit to its shortcomings.

Are you serious ? The casting was great...Sean Penn as Sgt. Welsh and James Caviezel as Pvt. Witt, were amazing and the rest of the cast was great.

Serious. I should have taken the opportunity during the John Travolta-as-a-General scene to ask for my money back from the theater manager.

But you must care. Once you have lost the capacity to care, you are no longer human.

I dont take any of your comments seriously now....you can use terms like "slow your roll" and sound badass but this is just an internet forum...you think Thin Red Line is boring ...good for you ! I am not wasting more time on this....

And I couldn't take a movie full of soldier-poets seriously so I guess we're even.

Just saw "Shoot 'Em Up." Had no idea an action movie could be so hilarious.

watching precious right now. Only 13 mins in and oh my bloody gad!

Are there really mothers like the mother portrayed in this movie? too sad! Because there's no dramatic music yet it makes the scenes all too real already.....i'm scared to watch the rest.

"Lebanon," made in 2009, now in release in USA. Interesting if only because the entire film is shot inside an army tank. Typical of the young generation of Israeli filmmakers in that it depicts the enemy sympathetically, and points out the flaws of Israeli policy. Gripping.

The portrayal of the mother may be over the top at times, but the actress does give an excellent performance and it's a fine film. Stick with it.

The entire film inside a tank? Is that all you see, or do you see what they are looking at outside the tank as well? How was it watching that for 90 or whatever minutes? The notion of that makes one long for the expansiveness of "My Dinner with Andre".

There are views out the tank through the gunner's scope. The warrior's myopia metaphorically expressed. The movie is draining to watch, lots of tension and danger.

Have you watched The Beast of War ...it has a similar theme. Its about the Russian invasion of Afghanistan and about a tank crew. Good movie.

Just finished "I Love You Man". Wasn't as funny as I expected, still a good movie. And Rashida Jones is sexy as hell.
