Just watched Rob Zombie's Halloween II. There were some interesting takes on the original (original sequel?), but much of it was just stupid.

Looooong version. 2 dvd's from the library. Part 1 dragged a little at times, but part 2 was phenomenal.

The extras had some footage of all the setbacks they endured trying to film various scenes. I found myself wondering how the *H* did they do *that* several times when watching. Incredible ingenuity displayed with some of their war tactics/engineering for the year 208 AD.

A lot of it is stretching the truth to be sure, but it's based on historical fact. Whose account of the history may dictate how it was written, but just as an action film for pure entertainment alone it stands out in my mind.

The Last Airbender

I have no idea why I talked myself into watching the movie knowing from other reviews that it was bad. I am more confused why I watched the whole pathetic movie...it is horrible ! There is nothing good about the movie except for some CGI ...which you can just checkout in the trailer.

I wasted 1hour 40 minutes on this crap ! I want to kick myself !

The Changeling (1980). Probably a good flick 30 years ago, but....meh.....it was decent.

"Waiting for Superman," a powerful documentary on how the American education system has fallen behind most of the industrialized world, and what should be done about it. It should make you angry and tearful. And it will make you grieve for kids who spend too much time doing things like playing tennis.

The Wrestler. Very good movie, I have to say that I am really liking the last Mickey R.'s performances, even in Iron Man 2, even in The Expendables!

"Tommy", on VHS, the movie based on the Who's rock opera. It was just as weird as I remember it being when they showed it in our school's gym for some sort of movie night in the 1970's when I was a tweener.

Watching this movie on a TV does not do it justice. (A gym probably wasn't a great environment either.) It is meant to be seen in a proper movie theater with a big screen and, um, an open mind...

For a second I thought you meant "Tommy Boy." Hilarious movie. Last I watched was "I.Q." Cheesy fun, but underrated.

I saw A Nightmare on Elm Street yesterday. Did you know this movie was based on a true story about people during the 1970's who mysteriously died in there sleep.

Terry Gilliam's "Brazil". It's a story about a state which inflicts its people with terrorism and total bureaucracy for the purpose of calibrating them to their daily donkey work.

Seen Wall Street 2 and The Social Network, both very slow and empty. I need to care about at least 2 characters in a movie and neither of those films did that for me.
How would you define "care about them"? Do you mean you need to find them sympathetic or likable, or just interesting?

Sure. Likable and sympathetic are not qualities I care about, though people often do feel the need to "like" the main chararacters for some odd reason: "I couldn't identify with him", "I wanted to root for him", etc. They only need to hold my interest, likable or not.

"Brazil" should be on everyone's must-see list. As dazzling a display of visual imagination as you'll ever see.

I'll put both of these on my "list".

Do either of you have other recommendations?
