The lower power is what attracted me to trying it. I've always felt I have to hold back on my forehand playing with the other multis. It would be nice to take a big full cut at the ball without it going 10 feet long. My racket is fairly flexible but those multis really pack a punch.

RIP is definitely low powered. Like you, I use it for the same reason, especially at altitude.

With the Quasi Gut 16, I highly recommend a prestretch when stringing it up, if you were a fan of Maxim Touch. (like I was)

I also recommend reserving judgement until it's had a bit of a breakin period, say 10-15 mins of hard hitting. Right out of the box it was just okay for me, but once it settled in, I liked it a lot better.

Curious to hear your playtests finish up.

My Quasi and RIP reviews are now dependent on breaking the Isospeed/Mantis.

Mike, curious how old are you? I could not play any string at 60 anymore at age 52, even though i'm a a fit 4.5. You just replied to my GE thread in the h/f space. I was having no problems for over a year with a very soft co-poly (BAM) at 52-55 lbs. It was the damn experiment with volkl cyclone that just gave me the bad ge. And like you i think it was serving that did it, not groundies. I guess the gear shape of the cyclone (it really does bite the ball) did me in. Never again for that string, although the performance aspects are very tempting.

It's going to take me a little while to break it. I usually play just 6 sets per week. The MT 17 I was using typically lasted 2 weeks for me. I'm thinking since this is 16g it should last at least that long.

I'm 37 years old and play with heavy topspin at a 4.5 level.

I added a few more sentences about stringing up the Mantis Comfort Synthetic. I'm playing in the morning tomorrow, so I'll try and report back in the afternoon. I bounced a few balls off the racket last night and I liked the feel, it was really soft.

You mentioned the Mantis CS smell--I too noticed it. The other string that is similar is Weiscannon Explosiv! multi. Both are great strings and I have tried both. Def stick with the Mantis due to its pricepoint! Good luck and keep us posted on your findings!

Are you still sticking with the Pacific PMX? What did you like about that versus the Mantis?

Nah--Im back to my Prince Diablo MPs strung with ToughGut/Polyforce setup. Best soft/control combo I have ever used. The Mantis was very nice, but was just too mushy for me. The PMX had a crisper feel to it and I did prefer it over the Mantis

You are dead to the Multi family now! That must mean your arm is doing better if you are flirting with poly again?

LOL--yeah arm is doing well. The toughgut/multi to me is as forgiving and feels better than full X-1 biphase 16g, plus I get great playability from start to finish and usually can squeeze out about 15hrs off a job.

Told You it's nice If there is a string that can be described as "too comfortable", this is it

After the first few hits, I kept expecting to feel feedback on my elbow because of the lower power but the entire match I felt absolutely no pain. I can't remember a time where I haven't even gotten 1 little twinge.

It is a super soft comfy string for sure! And also very low powered. It plays similar to a poly in terms of control. For some reason--I never could get that much pop out of it on serving-- Def a super string for the price (reel). Be interested to see what kind of durability you get.

Did you play with it until breakage?
