Thanks Bob for sharing th pics and info with all the community. I've seen a lot of Fed's stick info around there, but the Roddick's are not so current.
Sincerely I am very surprised that he uses such a light raq in professional understanding, but perhaps with his serve style (shortened movement) and his strockes that are also quite short, the little weight makes easier to accelerate the raquet in such a short distance... |

I think from the Pro specs I've seen over the years that alot of the pro specs are from 345g to 350g-especially the current lot. That's probably right in the middle spec wise of what most of them use.

For those experienced with customization, if one wanted to weigh/balance a stock PDRGT+ to match Roddick's, where and how much lead tape would be used?
I understand it won't be the same because of his being the swirly frame and silicon in the handle, but it would be fun to try anyway.

I find it interesting that the top players racquets are all specced very similar (while different)
from other posts, Federer is 364g, 6points headlight, Roddick is 365g with 6points headlight (extended racquet) Nadal is 335g, 3points headlight, the oddball being 30g lighter and more head heavy than the other two |

If you add 8g of lead under the bumper of the pdr plus, that will give you a static of 345 and a balance of 32.9cm. That's pretty spot on. I will tell you that it will swing pretty heavy like that though: that puts the swing weight at 364. I've got mine at 340g and a balance of 32.6cm and it's a nice compromise: you can really whip them fast but there's still alot of hurt on the ball with the weight. Remember that Arod is modding up a regular PD. I did a similar setup on my 2 apd pluses: 15g in the handle and 8g under the bumper: that put me at 32.6cm balance and 342g.(NOTE: you can do the exact same thing if you end up with the PD in a trade) You can use two 1/4oz fishing weights, you can pop them under the trap door of the butt and use some cotton to keep them quiet: your cost: $1.50 at walmart The difference is that the weight on my apd's is now really polarized at the tips and it comes around a bit quicker than the pdr. But, the PDR feels more solid IMO.

how do you convert 6pts hl on a 27.5 stick to what it would be equivalent to on a 27 in stick? is it .982 * 6 ???

That depends on what you mean by "equivalent". The point system for balance is really just an expression in inches. So 6 points head light is 3/4" head light. This means that the balance point is 3/4" below the middle of the frame. On a 27" frame, that would be at 12.75", since the middle is 13.5". So the question is whether you're trying to find the same mathematical point on the 27.5" frame (which is fairly easy math), or whether you're trying to make the two frames feel exactly the same, which is much more fuzzy and subjective.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I am curious, did anyone ever find out what that foam was in the frame? I am quite curious as to what it is!
