I think it was the dress. Pam Schriver mentioned it distracting her.

The way Li Na was playing was incredible. She was thumping the ball. I was very impressed with her. Caroline has to keep developing because I think when she gets into semis and finals if majors she will play the best ones and the best ones are better and more aggressive than her and therefore her defensive way is what is killing her.
In her first major playing with Yonex she already reached the semis and lost to a better opponent. Her major may be the french where I think it favors her style. |

Nope. It is all the racquets fault. If she had stayed with Babolat she would have beaten Na Li and be into the finals. She would have gotten destroyed by Clijsters but that is of little importance. Yonex = Career Death.

I was not impressed with Li Na as much as I thought Wozniacki folded, a bit. Her second serve (Wozniacki's) became tentative, and floated too much. My wife called it a powder puff 2nd serve. When she double faulted to lose the set, the match was clearly over. The Yonex had nothing to do with it. She played fine with it, and hit solid shots with control.

Woz went up 30-0 and was about to consolidate the break and put a easy Overhead in the bottom of the net. That is due to tired legs. and played another bad looking 3 points after that to get broken right back. then Woz was just completely empty in the tank for the rest of the match. |

As much as its easy to jump on the racquet change, and I'm sure Babolat is thrilled to have 2 Babolat players in the final, Woz seemed to overall hit well w/ the Yonex. She moved the ball around with good control, retrieved as usual and generally played her game.
Na Li is high risk high reward player. When she's on she hits lots of winners and looks great and unstoppable, when she's off she looks terrible...often in the same match. She's a bit like that Dolgopolov recently. Its funny to hear the announcers during a bad streak saying...oh he/she needs to dial back and stop going for so much...like they did relentlessly early in the Dolgo/Soderling match...only to see Dolgo keep going for it, find his shot, go on a tear and win the match. Actually, Soderling can be that way too. Their style is to keep hitting while making tweaks and adjustments and hope they find their range get hot. I watched the Na Li/Cjisters finals match at Medibank...same thing was happening. Na Li missing all over the place and goes down 0-5 in the first set, but she kept going for her shots and eventually found her range and went off a a run to win the match. I do think Woz got a bit tired/drained which is unusual. Na Li was moving her around a lot early...of course you would think she would be used to that since she runs all match every match...but maybe she was just feeling a little extra tired/drained today feeling the pressure and after losing her match point opportunity some energy went out of her. Everyone has those days...Na Li looked a bit tired too near the end but she plays a different game so was able to finish better IMHO. I thought Woz actually moved the ball around well, going down the line to move Li instead of just hitting straight back, but she just doesn't have that piercing flat shot she can call up for winners like someone like a Na Li has...especially on the forehand. Na Li even hit a few nice forcing shots she came in behind. Woz can beat these players but only if they make too many errors before finding their range...just depends on the day IMHO. |

Also, to her credit, I've never seen Woz look at her racquet, whack it or do anything during play that indicates she is even thinking about her racquet.
I still find it amazing that a #1 player would change racquets and it does make an interesting story line to her career from here on out. |

If/when Woz gets the ability to hit winners, she will become a dominating force. Until then she is just a very very good player who will consistently get to quarters/semis but never win the final imo

It is odd with her size and apparent strength that she doesn't have seem to possess that shot. She can pull off the occasional sharp angle for a winner, mostly from her bh, but rarely through the court.

Woziniaki.
Super Bad outfit - distracted Wozi (she was ****ed) especially during serve. No bite on her second serve. Great consistent ball basher and plays too safe most of the time. Relied too much on keeping her error % low; long rallies and getting moved side to side to play catch up defense worned her out. No big weapon to finish off her opponent. logged on 24 winner vs Li Na's 54 winners Even if she won over Li Na - she won't get pass the lighting fast and heavy canon from Clijster.

We're still waiting here in N. America. My local shop said Yonex are sending theirs on Feb 15th so they should have them instock about a week after that. Hopefully TW will be about the same.

I just got the march issue of Tennis. I am shocked that they show her on the cover with a Babolat. Wouldn't her management make sure that she had a Yonex in her hand? She made the switch a while ago.
