Born lefty and plays both tennis and cricket lefty. But plays football (soccer) as a righty. Lefty just have better feel and touch at the net. Plus playing doubles and serving at the AD court...nasty killer spin and slice out wide. I even have a wide topspin serve for the deuce side also. Leftys are versatile.

Don't know your age or how things are done down under. For the past several hundred years, parents made a supreme effort to change the preferable hand an infant uses if that infant shows a preference to use the left hand. Some religious connotation in there somewhere. Thankfully, attitudes are changing, albeit slowly. If your mom is "old school", it would help explain her actions.

I considered all that when I said 5-1.

I guess I'm in the 4%--total lefty everything. There's some theory (I read it in a book years ago) that if you are lefthanded and you "hook" your hand when you write that your handedness might be caused by birth trauma, not genetics--and also that those lefties (the hookers ), do not have cross brain dominance; i.e., they are left brain dominant, like righties. I don't know if this is still the current theory. Anyway--I'm a 4ish female and I pay a young guy to hit with me regularly. He's also a lefty and hits with a lot of topspin. Even tho' I'm lefty myself, I found his spin very strange at first to get used to, which I thought was interesting--I guess like everybody else, I'm also adapted to righthanded spin. He's about a 6 (played college) and a pure serve and volleyer. I've never seen him in a match but he says he beats almost everybody he plays (except pros)--definitely has a lefty advantage. I'm waiting for mine to kick in .

Well, it goes like this . . .

It is a medically proven fact that the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body. So . . . the only people in their right mind are left handers.

I eat, write, kick, and play tennis from the left side. I am totally right sided in all other sports. I have assumed that people would hold a racquet with the hand that holds their utensils. Is this the experience of others?
