Is TB really worth the $$$ ? A reel is like $150 when a reel of CF is $60. I have no doubt that TB is a great string, but is it really $90 better?

Also, is TB harsh? I ask because I find Lux harsh so if it's similar that's a no no for me.

TB is not harsh IMO but I am surprised that you find Lux harsh but not CF.

TBH, I find TB to def be worth 90 more over CF I was a former user of CF back in 07 and 08 and while I think CF was good for its time, I do feel that string tech has moved on.

$150 is about the upper end of what I'll pay though. I got my last reel for $120 so that was nice and worked out to 7.50 a set and that's all good in my book.

I think in the $7 to $10 range you get what you pay for but no string is worth $17 a set

Great post PED, I agree with you 100%. I loved the CF myself and flipped out the first time I used it. It was insane spin..unfair to me (coming from synth gut as all I knew about strings).

But poly strings have changed. They are softer and last longer now. The cyberflash is not a string that you want much longer than 6-7 hours. From what I have heard, Solinco in the 40s could be good for a lot longer.

^^I think you and I also agree that probably the best string for the price is Hexonic. For $75 a reel, it's impossible to beat.

I've gotten totally hooked on the TB. Since, I've dropped my static weight, I've gone down to 51/49 with no control issues. I was surprised as it was 85 this am when I hit.

Okay... right... so the Typhoon (a string I also liked a lot in the Pres Pro BTW), doesn't do it for you in the APD then. Hmmm...

Well, I'm also "interviewing new candidates" (phrase of the day ), in the form of B5E and Revolusion. Plus I have some Signum stuff (think its Hyperion and SPPP) to look at, though I lately seem to have slightly gone off Tornado, which makes me wonder if that may bode ill for those strings in the APD. Of course, it's all very frame-specific, but TB still sort of looks down from an almighty height upon the others I've tried. I do feel like checking out some alternatives though. I may trawl through the old threads to see what experienced APD users have liked in it.

Side-note: I've still yet to find a single set up I particularly like in the TF V02 320! It's maybe a tension thing, I don't know? But I can't imagine going lower than 50 lbs in this very powerful frame - and I've played with some very decent polys in it (including TB, BHBR and Black Code.) You know what? I think it's probably has to be more about the frame's feel more than anything. Anyhow, unlike the PP, I feel I can restring this racket a time or two more.

I havent tried barbwire. Tourbite seems tailormade for your apd. Hyperion is soft and powerful with excellent tension maint. Still gets great spin but not that hard digging in feeling like tour bite. Hyperion is slightly rubbery and forgiving. I like it because it has POWER almost like gut but grabs like a poly. But it doesnt grab like TB. TB feels like metal to me, hyperion feels like powerful black gummybears. I liked TB in a 100si prince. But I didnt like it in a smaller head. I like hyperion in everything.

Im lazy..but do a quick search for it in the strings section and you will see my thread about it. My impressions were from when I was using the Tfight.

Short story :

Feels great in the Tfight, very very good deal for the price.

I don't need soft strings in my Donnay..i learned that one from the Outlast..TourBite sounds like an ideal match.

not the real match, I am going through a kung-fu training montage with the 88, I am a shadow on a bamboo screen. I have to kill bill, but I have to kill some other people first...

Its become my bully frame. I use it to beat up on weaker opponents who insist on feeding me backhands that I pancake dtl for winners all day long.

Against tougher opposition that can get high on my BH, I need the bigger stick.

Also, my usual poly setup goes dead in half the time in the 88.
This is how I roll: 4g at the top of the grip, replace leather with synth, full poly. Checks in at 12.7 oz. Sweet.

Nice, mine's almost 12.8. Still feels nice and maneuverable. It's pretty much the best stick I've ever used at net. I love driving a fh volley cc, the racquet does all the work

Well, only ever tried BB original and Rough I think. At the same tension as CF, the Lux felt boardier.

In my case it's not just how the string feels on impact, but how my shoulder feels the next day.

I don't compete anymore so $ and durability are more important than performance these days. I'll pay $100 max for a reel. Any recommendations at that price range?

So what last significantly longer? I thought 6-7 hours was actually decent for a poly?

Polys now..like the new Weiscannon are engineered to give you much more playtime as long as you string lower. I finally got a high quality stringing machine and will give you guys my experiences since I have the exact equipment now for stringing poly racquets.

Fed,

Agree with your description of Hyperion. Not quite so sure if it would suit the APD, but am tempted to try it too. As for TB, yes, it's metallic, or, from a previous post of mine...

Quote:
Grabby, crunching slightly, er, alien technology feel slightly similar to Alu (but unlike Alu where the alien technology is somehow suspect and perhaps wanting to invade your being, TB 'comes in peace') ... ahem... anyhow, that explosive power and mega-spin/snap back control that makes the ball just plop down a few inches off the b-line with such wonderful regularity - that's why I like Tour Bite
PP,

Sounds like Hexonic in the TF 320 is the way to go... I might have to make a quick on-line buy!

Ross it is cheap, so if you hate it, no biggie.

Disclaimer, I string my own. Highly reccomend it since it saves cash and no wait on sticks. It also makes me more open minded to trying string. That being said, I did not like a lot of full poly strings in the Tfight besides Hex.

Surprisingly, hybrids felt fantastic. Synth gut crosses and poly mains.

I cant sell my prestige either. Just people lowballing the crap out of me for a racquet that I barely used. It is kind of incredible. Some guy offered to trade me string..lol..no thanks.

The TGK or the stock? I'm pretty sure if mine were the MP I would have sold them already.
