I'm guessing they'll be anywhere from 6-9. But, the range could even be 5-10.

In the most current ITA Team rankings, Nebraska is No. 39.

Ohio St. is No. 3
Illinois is No. 18
Minnesota is No. 19
Indiana is No. 26
Michigan is No. 28

[Nebraska is No. 39]

Michigan St. is No. 50
Purdue is No. 66
Iowa is No. 69
Wisconsin is No. 71.

The rest of the schools - Northwestern and Penn St, are unranked.

Based just on ITA rankings, Nebraska would have been 6th this year. But, schools become more bunched talent-wise as you move down the rankings so while rankings are a starting point and you can get a general idea of where they might fall, we can't know for sure. Also, obviously, it matters what recruits are coming in and what players are leaving for all of the Big 10 teams.

Minnesota beat Nebraska fairly easily, 6-1.

Nebraska beat Wisconsin 5-2.

Take from this what you will.

Maybe not a tennis power, but overall a great athletic department and a proud sporting tradition and a very good university. A nice addition to the Big 10.

Thanks. Nice run down. I have always been a Nebraska Cornhusker Fan. All sports. I am excited for the move to the Big 10. Looking at the roster for Neb, looks like they have a number of non americans on the team. Seems to be the trend.

Yes, that would be huge. I forgot that he was considering Nebraska.

Sock's a good example of how one player could change everything.

He will likely pull a Johnson/Domijan(honorable mention to Davy Sum) and not lose a dual match all year.

Hoping they go depp in the tourney..
They have great, new facilities right in the heart of campus. More importantly, they have a great, young coach who now has the program back to a position of strength. (Minnesota has a long history of solid success in tennis).

with a nice recruiting class coming in next year, The Golden Gophers should be strong for the foreseeable future.

Illinois - Michigan are underway.

Ohio State - Michigan State seems delayed. Ohio State is still stacking their lineup by having Ille von Engelen ahead of Allare. Typical for Ty Tucker, a notorious stacker in recent years.

I don't know how much the endowment has to do with the cash for facilities. Over the past decade, it seems that the university has really got behind facility improvment and expansion for revenue and non-revenue sports alike.

Minnesota is in the middle of a pretty big city and metro area, so these improvements not only benefit the team and the university community but a much larger cross section of the public.

For such a cold climate, the Twin Cities is a fairly strong tennis community and there are many interested parties for great facilities -- students and alums, fans, and even the general public who can use the Baseline Tennis Center at certain times. The BTC isn't just home to the Gophers, a lot of different people and groups from the community utilize the facilities.

It should be noted that the University of Minnesota for a long time has had the Baseline Club, which is basically a booster club for tennis, similar to how college football has boosters, but obviously on a smaller scale. They deserve much of the credit for raising the money for such a great facility. Thought the univerisity kicked in some money, a lot of money came from private donations, and many of those donations came via the Baseline Club.

KU Singh should not be losing to players like Bernstein.

Starting to look like the ILL-Mich match may come down to the 6th singles spot. King up on Nevolo 4-1 in the 3rd set.

Illinois squeaks it out 4-3.

We're so spoiled, a NCAA championship in 2003, runner up a few years ago, never worse than 2nd in the last 15 years in the Big 10, always ranked in the top 15 but this is so sad to see them struggle like this. Now they get waxed by OSU and won't get to host a regional in quite a while.

Default Minnesota blanks Wisconsin

As a die hard Golden Gopher fan it is always sweet to beat Wisconsin........in anything. Goldy put a butt whipping on Bucky today in tennis. I only wish it would have lasted long enough for Tobias Wernet to finish off Michalaka and get another boost in the rankings. Wernie is on fire right now.

Alright - now we get our shot at the Hoosiers.
