I almost read that as Werwie on Fire. A little inside humor as Kevin Werwie used to be a player for the gophs back in the early 90's.

Alright - now we get our shot at the Hoosiers.
Maybe these Gophers are now worthy enough to hit with Tonylars now ???

Minnesotar takes the doubles point which could be huge.

I think it will be huge as it is always tough to win 4 of 6 singles matches. If my memory is correct however, I think Minnesota won the doubles point when Indiana beat them in the regular season.

I thought maybe Illinois would give them a bit of a fight. Not so.

Wow - the Gophers/Indiana match is a dogfight. Gophers got the doubles point and have a chance to take 3 of the singles matches. Should be an interesting finish.

Goransson leaving meant Vogl had to move up to #5 and he has struggled, he was on fire for a while at 6.

4-0 Minnesotar, the live score had court 6 wrong.

Default Impressive Victory

The Golden Gophers were very impressive today - dominating the match against an opponent who defeated them a few weeks ago.

Typical victory - winning at the bottom of the lineup along with red hot tobias wernet at 1. He is playing as well as anybody in the Big 10 (not named Buchanan or Rola).

They have gotten steadily better all year and are playing their best right now. Unfortunately, they are not good enough to have a chance tomorrow but this should help their seeding in the NCAAs.

I wonder how well Minnesota can do in the NCAAs. Would love to see them make the Round of 16. Guess it depends on the draw and who they matchup with in the 2nd Rnd.

One thing I hate about the ITA is the way they do tournaments. Because of Minnesota's location they will probably end up in Ohio State's region when they deserve to go to a lower ranked schools place.

I couldn't agree more, also it would be nice for teams who make it to get a chance to play somewhere different.

I thought it was random draw based on your seeding group (ie 8-16 seeds)?

With their depth, they should be hard to beat in the first round. With Wernet playing so well at 1 right now, they definitely have a chance for the Sweet 16 if they get a decent draw.

Today will be interesting against OSU. The Golden Gophers are grinders and compete hard but OSU is better at every spot. No pressure however, they've already had a great tournament. Not just getting to the final but the way they did it is impressive.

No, it's not a random draw. The 16 seeded teams host regionals, unless they don't have a facility that can accomodate it (most do). The next 16 teams, in the 17-32 group are assigned to regionals, and travel distance does play into the decision. So on for the 33-48 group and the 49-64 group.

Just because Columbus is the closest regional to Minnesota doesn't necessarily mean the Gophers will end up there, especially since Illinois and Indiana are both considered locks to get in right now.

It's just the the chances of being sent to Florida or L.A. are lower than being sent to Columbus, Lexington, or Knoxville.

I think maybe it started late, only a few games played on all 3 doubles.
