He is making a stand on a decision that was unfair to the players, out of principle, and I wouldn't consider that stupid or being grumpy.

People are quick to put the blame on Andy whenever a rant with his name shows up... Some simple reading would tell you that he is not even concerned about what happens to him, but is instead speaking out on something that is unfair to his teammate.

Well, let him give some money to Fish then, if he is so concerned and conceding that its his fault in the first place.

Does that mean he and Mardy get their prize money and doubles points since he pulled out of the subsequent tournament? HAHA that was probably worth more money than losing to Victor in his first match in Nice.

Roddick doubles ranking to surpass his singles ranking soon! Inside the top 100 already.

It's pretty sad that the organizers of Rome and Dusseldorf and ATP top brass couldn't get together and come up with a solution instead of putting the players in a no-win situation.

It seems like this could have been worked out in some way

[quote=HunterST;5656777]Wait, did Roddick pull out because of an injury or because he wanted to catch a flight to another tournament?

If a player is legitimately injured, I don't think they should be docked their pay. If they just have something to do that they think is more important, they shouldn't get the money.[/Q.

Doesn't matter whether the injury is legit or fake. The rules has nothing to do with injury. It has to do with withdrawal or not finishing a match.

Meanwhile, Isner & Querrey are sending Roddick roses and get-well cards along with thank-you-very-much cards.

Does anybody know if the penalty still applies since Roddick pulled out of Nice?

actually the rules does involve injury. If a player who withdraws from injury and is not able to play the next tournament as well he is supposed to get full pay. it is only when they withdraw from a minor injury or whatever that they do not get paid.

fish has backed roddick publicly and said they plan to appeal. why do you expect querry and isner to say anything? it wasn't their checks that were jacked with. we can be bros and all that but at the end of the day, we gotta get paid!

Correct, but he didn't pull out of Nice until yesterday. So maybe since that happened, they will give him the prize money and ranking points.

Looks like he won't be needing to donate his winnings to Fish, since he withdrew from the next tournament... They ought to give Mardy and him their rightfully-earned money now, or Andy will DEFINITELY have the right to blow s*** up!

And he's far from a frat boy; he's just an animated personality on the tour, compared to all those self-reserved people... I should know, I attend a college that is second-ranked in Greek life in the nation.

Andy Roddick broke the SF-every-2-years-at-AO by not reaching the SF in 2011. Roddick is done.
