Yes we went 1-2 in the tournament this weekend. I did not exactly have a great weekend - in fact I lost all three matches played. First match on Friday, I played #1 singles hoping to match up against the older player. He killed me 2 and 1. Next I played #1 doubles and lost 3, 5. Yesterday I played #2 singles and lost in the 3rd set tie breaker 10-7. Most teams had very young singles players 19-23. Kid I played yesterday was 19. Seniors - here I come.
I was down in the Keys all last week and only got to hit on a backboard for a couple of hours, but still felt ready. I played OK yesterday and had chances to win. |

It is always tough to play new people when you know nothing about their game. |

I've been dying to play but I was working a lot; just finished working 20 hrs nonstop; gonna sleep now so I can have energy to work again tonight...I'll give you a call as soon as I can get a break from this project; I need to hit with you before you leave O-Town.

only thing is that most seniors i'm seeing are using thick beamed oversized racquets. think you'll be at a disadvantage with the JK woodie.

I'm scheduled to play the next two days after work. I have a set of old Gamma poly I could give you. Other than that, pretty much every other string I own I intend to use. |

It might take some digging, but I'll try and remember to look for it the next few days. SSgator, I looked up that Miami guy you played on the USTA website. He had a lot of wins where his opponents won 4 games or less. Can you say sandbagger? |

I'm telling you - when we were warming up, I thought I was going to win. He didnt seem to have anything that was going to hurt me. His serve was pretty good but groundies just appeared ok. I think he is one of those guys that after he beats you - you ask - how did that just happen. Shawn says he is better than he looks. I bet he gets bumped tp 5.0 Look at the kid I played in the second match - many open tournaments. Not *****ing, just an experience you learn from. To win you need top, young singles players at the very top of the 4.5 division. I looked at the Seniors and they only play 3 lines of doubles. I still like playing singles. I need to improve my doubles game. |
