K90 by a landslide.

Then N90

I have to say this is a little harsh...I like the black and red going on for both and retaining the matte finish is key. I have to say I really like holographic/gold lettering used, though I'm largely a symmetry guy so for me it's the original or the K90 fa sho.

This reinforces the fact that if ncoded whatever or Karophite Black was used...it definitely worked some magic for the Fed Express. He really came into his own style wise during this period too.

Perhaps. But I personally think the "custom" 90 what-have-you, K90, simply possessed the magical 80/20 Graphite/Kevlar layup all along. To me, that special Prostaff feel from this layup is unique and distinct from all other types of "technologies."

I don't understand all the hate for the BLX pj. I actually like the look of the BLX series. I play a BLX Blade 98 and I think it's one of the best looking racquets I've seen. The Tour 90 and 6.1 95 pj is pretty nice looking as well. I think it looks a lot "classier" than a lot of the bright yellow/orange neon looking stuff out there from Head and Babolat.

agreed black/red + little touch of gold is a nice combo
think ppl arent liking it cause fed isnt winning as much with this racquet vs N90/K90

not sure about white/red and gold though...

Nah....it has nothing at all to do with Federer. People just think gold on a tennis racquet is garish.

I have to agree that I like the colors of the new BLXs except the pic of the new white one (and the Blue Orange and white one)

I'm still waiting to play a guy who likes to buy his BLX Blade 98 in pink....

IMO, it might have a tad bit to do with it. I like to think of it like this: The power of suggestion and marketing strategy employed by the good folks at Wilson was on full tilt for the K90 and K series in general.

Remember these ads?:

Couple that with the fact that Federer was so utterly successful with this PJ, and I'm not talking about just collecting GS after GS, but achieving record-breaking and milestone-achieving ones, such as the elusive French, the record-breaking 14th, and the epic 5th setters at Wimbledon (with Nadal and Roddick), you have a racket that has been burned in the image of diehard and casual tennis fans alike. This is very influential, dare I say powerful, in affecting one's perception of the very subject at issue: the racket.

Then again, what do I know, I'm not a pyschologist nor an advertising exec!

All I know is that I like the K90 PJ the best.

Well, I don't think there's a bigger Federer fan than me on the planet, but I absolutely HATE the K90 paintjob. Give me the PS 6.0 85 paintjob with which Federer never won anything with and I'd be very happy.

People may start buying the BLX90 more, but I doubt people will like the BLX90 paintjob more.

Heck, I bought the K90 because I like how the racquet plays, not because Federer eventually won more with it because I bought them when they first came out. So even though I've always hated the K90 paintjob, I held my nose and bought them anyway because of the feel and the performance.

As the quote goes, "to each his own. . . ."

It's interesting that each person on this board has his/her own preferences as to what PJ is their favorite.

Where one person can hate the K90 PJ, another person, namely myself, can flat-out LOVE everything about the K90 PJ.

(BTW, I also think the HPS 6.1 and HPS 6.0 PJs are the bees knees as well.)

So, maybe since this is a tennis forum, a more apt quote would be: "different strokes for different folks"!

Federer will be identified with k90. I also think it's pj was unique. There was nothing like it before.

Hated box initially but kinda grew on me. Kinda like it now...

1. n90. I personally enjoyed his 2004-2006 years most. Fed seemed to generate the most racquethead speed during that time. The image of a red & white blur zipping through the air is the epitomic representation of Federer's dominance. This PJ also seemed to make the racquet face look smaller compared to the k90. smaller headsize = more streamlined (in my mind)

2. p85. so classy looking. Personally I would use this racquet over the others, but on Fed the n90 fits him best
