Default Newbie question about age divisions..

I'm 36 and always play 4.0 division in tourneys. Some other tourney I want to play has aged divisions instead. They have 25, 35, 45 to choose from. Which division would I sign up for? And does this count towards your rating points for the state?

Thanks!
Turtle

25 means 25 and older
35 -- 35 and older

So if you're 45+ you can join all three sections I would assume. That's how I've seen it work in some places.

And it won't count into your 4.0 ratings. But it will count into your state ratings for that age division.

I'm sure you realize that in Age division you might be playing a 3.0 in the first round, or a 5.5, depending on the lack of the draw...

One more thing: you are likely to see larger draws in 35s as opposed to 25s. That is the case generally, though it depends on where you are and whether there is Open draw in this tourney.

Good newbie question. I had it too when I started. I was also confused by the 7.0 and 8.0 doubles divisions. I'm like, "I'm a 3.0...there's no way in heck I'll ever be a 7.0." Laugh was definitely on me. First, it's a combined NTRP...and NTRP...only goes to 7.0.

And here's another LOL. Just got the flier for our club's in-house mixed doubles tournament. They're having a 120-Combo (age) division. Good that...it'll probably have the biggest draw. I'm just wondering if there's any 75-yr olds I can play with. I know a few ladies in that category...just not any of their husbands well enough to steal away!
