This week, Delpo's in Montreal for the Rogers Cup, for which he was runnerup in 2009. After beating JNieminen to progress to Rnd 2, Del's round 2 match was rained out and rescheduled for today vs. MCilic. Meanwhile, he did improve a level in the world tour rankings this week!

You know, it's so interesting that a former champion of the tournament is a dark horse. Tennis is so ... unpredictable.
Vamos Delpo! (Who else likes his new haircut?)

Browsing through this thread a for the 1st times the Jaws theme song comes to mind. All the players above Delpo looking over their shoulders and running in terror as he approaches. But its useless as one by one he slowly overtakes them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9QTSyLwd4w Okay yeah, I don't see him cracking to top 4 any time soon but still... Last edited by PCXL-Fan : 10-24-2011 at 08:13 AM. |

With no points to defend, the euro indoor swing just means more points for Delpo ....... Juan's straight-set victory over Philipp Petzschner earlier today put him into the singles quarterfinals ... may also be a portent of a second victory, this time in the doubles. Delpo/Stepanek are now on court to play vs. the team of Melzer/Petzschner @ http://www.lshunter.tv/tennis-live-streaming-video.html

interesting ... the underdogs, Delpo/Steps, take the first set from the wimby champs, 64
perhaps practice for DC in december? ===== too bad for Melzer, who shanked a lot in front of the hometown crowd but stepanek was all over the place stellar, he and delpo seeming to get along just fine, won the match 63, 64 ... their team is into the QF, where they will face the austrian team of haider-maurer/oswald Last edited by Love Game : 10-26-2011 at 01:22 PM. |

Looking at the rankings posted above, I'm impressed that Ferrer has put so much space between him and all the good players below him. I expect DelPotro to be up there soon.

Soderling won't be defending his paris title so expect him to fall down the ranking

He's bunked off half the year with illness yet when I've worked out he'll just drop down to a mere #9 or #10, only if his 'friends' below him don't suddenly turn on their hidden GOAT modes.

------------ K so, Homeboy, what are your calculations for Delpo? If he wins here in Vienna (which seems likelier day by day), then he'll have an additional 250 points ... or will he? ... why did this atp writer say it would be 230? was that a typo? 20 points less than the tournament represents? Is that possible? ... "Del Potro can add 230 South African Airways 2011 ATP Year-To-Date Rankings points by lifting the Vienna trophy this week. He is currently No. 13 in the battle for London with three spots left up for grabs." http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Ten...eats-Haas.aspx thx |

![]() K so .......... let the rise proceed ... each of these semifinalists has already earned 90 points ... and the winner today will then have a total of 150. anderson hasn't lost a set all week ... i'm guessing delpo can take at least a set from him and, since he's beaten him before, he can do it again! vamos juan, go get that 150! |

First blood by Delpo, he breaks for 3-2 in the first set and then consolidates it, 4-2. By the way why there is no thread for discussing Vienna tournament?
