All of the most entertaining players on the planet are converging on Valencia to put on a show.
Will Ferrer repeat at home and defend a title off clay for the first time in his career? Will Del Potro claim the biggest title since he began his comeback? Will Tsonga launch rockets off his forehand and take the prize? Will Monfils clown around? Will Verdasco choke? Will Ferrero win a hardcourt title, for the first time since 2003, in his home comunitat? will Granollers be able to repeat his heroic run from a year ago? Will Gulbis be rich and not care about tennis? Will Isner or Raonic serve their way to their first career ATP500 title of their careers? Unfortunately, Soderling and Nalbandian had to withdraw from the tournament, but there should be plenty of interesting matches throughout the week. Comunitat heroes Ferrer and Ferrero will be playing as part of a very strong field. Last edited by Beryl : 10-28-2011 at 08:41 PM. |

Option #8 is a given...unfortunately.
Judging from your avatar, option #3 is your preference...I wish him luck! He will need it due to the deep draw. I would be happy with that result.

I certainly wouldn't mind if Jo-Willy made it deep though! Last edited by Beryl : 10-28-2011 at 10:54 PM. |

Aww, I hope JCF will come out blasting like in Shanghai.
I'll be rooting for Ferru for the win here as usual.. |

Ferrer or Del Potro.
I feel sorry for Ferrer loosing all these finals, so if he gets to the final then he deserves the title. But I'm rooting for Delpo and a earlier Ferrer exit, so he can qualify for London. |

Pospisil (CAN) beats up on Isner for the time being: 86% on 2nd return on Isner's serve???

Amazing performance by Pospisil (CAN), who was a Q, and is #122 or something, to beat Isner in one of his first higher-level ATP tournaments:
Fin. V. Pospisil 6 3 7 J. Isner 3 6 6 11-9 in the tiebreaker!! P was 84% first serve (86% Isner) Not shown on broadcast. The reward? He plays Ferrer (1) in the 2nd round. Just a great opportunity and experience. Some nice competition between the two young Canadians

I'm so happy for Pospisil. He had a good run last week at Vienna so it was great to see him continue to do well here. His confidence must be sky high.
Doesn't Ferrer have to play Verdasco before he gets Pospisil? Wouldn't it be funny if Ferrer lost (I hope he doesn't - he's one of my favourites to win the whole tournament) and Verdasco had to play another unknown hotshot Canadian? Nando might flip out. |

I'll go with DelPo.
He was unusually angered an that 3rd set against Tsonga, kicking his bag across the court. Not good behavior but from where I see things it shows he is motivated. |

just began to watch marti vs tsonga. with the first points i saw i have the impression that tsonga produces many unforced errors and marti is a male grunting wozniaki. besides of his game and grunting i like him haha. he has a good one handed backhand

ok looks like a fun match. marti gets to many balls but unlike wozniaki his balls are heavier and every stroke looks good with constancy. he also comes to the net from time to time.

Apparently Mahut has pulled out of Valencia due to the death of his 2 year old nephew over the weekend so that he can attend the funeral.
As a result Davydenko gets a walkover.
