Al Parker(GEORGIA) won over 25 gold balls, but was never ranked top 250 in the world??Winning nationals doesnt equal success on the pro tour.

It would be interesting to know the reverse.

Has any player, U.S., ever become a successful pro without winning a national?

Not sure but I don't believe The Pistol has any gold balls. If that is the case, that's astounding.

Petes junior career was Ok at best. How did he do in the pro's since he never won a Grand Slam Jr. or Ed Hurr or Orange Bowl ? He must have had a laughable career.

Tournament Notes
This tournament is a Level 3 singles and doubles (18's doubles only) tournament for USTA national ranking purposes.....This event is open to all juniors that reside in Southern California and are US Citizens or in possession of a valid green card. The tournament committee reserves the right to request any player during the tournament to provide an Alien registration card....
Agree. Winning a sectional is no big deal..
My son has won them, and he is no future pro...

But, I looked this up, and it appears that DB won the whole Nike tournament.

If so, that would be a big deal.

Anyone know who won the 12's Nike Junior Tournament? Am I correct, is it DB?

LOL! If I were you, I'd quit while I'm ahead and save myself further embarrassment...

And anybody who says that winning the Socal Sectional Championships is "no big deal" is either a very achieved player, or more likely in your case - has no idea what real tennis is about .

DB won the Nike national over kids who won their sections (16 total sections). He was qualified to represent the USA at the international but the family turned down the invitation.

And the Nike Junior tour is a nice win three years ago, but the national ranked kids in our section don't play it cause of the conflicts - you can check this with other parents on this forum who actually have kids playing in the national circuit.

Regardless, this situation feels so slimy - it is sad cause it seems he is putting his acceptance of this kid/player/person on his wins (and perhaps his acceptance as a coach)... and wins that he is making up.

Pete played up a lot. Sometimes two age groups.
