"J. Edgar" last night; we were in full-hormone mode last night after dinner at an excellent steak joint, yet unlike someone above, I was more sympathetic of Edgar than awed by his power. Movie demonstrates nicely how desperate he was to hold on to his job not so much for the power but for the lack of any other gratification in his life. Films that cover nearly all of a man's life lose their dramatic arc and become too much like documentaries; that was the biggest problem with this film.

BRIDESMAIDS......... total dissapointment, with Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, AND it being advertised as "funnier than the Hangover, from the makers of Superbad, 40 yo virgin..." hmmmm.

Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph were the least funny of the movie, what a waste, couldve been a classic!

^^ Saturday Night Fever far more than a comedy, one of the best movies I've ever seen on the problems of class and social mobility. Tony struggles with being in a lower social class, but finally realizes at the dance contest that there's people in an even lower class treated worse than he is, climaxing in his rejection of the trophy.

What does that then mean ? Cant a person belong to a class he or she wasnt born into? Is the idea that anyone can make it not a good one?

The film implies that NOT anyone can make it, at least not fairly or with reasonable ease, and society is in fact quite class conscious and tries to keep people in their class. The Puerto Rican couple clearly won the dance contest -- Tony knew it, and refuses the trophy for that reason -- but were considered the underclass in that microcosm of the dance club, the one place where Tony was in the upper class, so he was awarded the trophy.

It had its moments but I agree that there was more potential to be tapped.

immortals. in 3d too.

terrible plot. supposedly based on greek mythology but it may as well have been made up. freida pinto's body double is amazing. her acting not so much. CGI was good and the whole thing looked like a graphic novel in movie form. all in all fun but not great. not worth the $16. i think it's worth a rental when it comes out in DVD/blueray.

I had an idea for a movie based on friends who are forced to play Polish roulette. See, you take a semi-automatic pistol, but you only load one bullet into it...

Martyrs
a one trick pony torture-porn movie that, by the end, reveals itself to be pointless

This wasn't enough to convince you that it would be pointless?
