Well, Federer has always been one of the fittest athletes. Also, he has a very easy game therefore the combination of this, makes him remain healthy each season. I appreciate Federer's fitness.

But that again, doesn't mean everyone is as fit as Federer. Clearly Murray isn't. From the looks of it, neither is Djokovic or Nadal.

Djokovic was not burned out, he was making a ton of UE's, but he was still covering the court like a monster. It's his offensive game that he can't get a hold of, has nothing to do with physical burnout, it's mental. Part of being a good tennis player is the ability to endure the season even when playing a lot. Stop trying to make excuses for any player, Ferrer's playing style is also demanding, I didn't see him burned out, and he's been playing a lot this year. It is also Nadal's fault that he wasn't being aggressive enough, it is Djokovic's fault that he couldn't keep his offense from falling apart. I will say this again, none of the players have an excuse for being physically incapable of playing, except maybe Murray since he genuinely seemed off physically rather than being mentally absent.
What a load of rubbish. I don't think anyone who has really played tennis would agree with this daft statement. Ferrer was burned out today. Tennis has changed greatly and Federer's decline is testament to that fact that he could no longer compete the way he used to. And don't tell me to 'shut the hell up' if you can't chose better phraseology don't reply

Yes it was hilarious to see Murray barely beat Federer with a really bad back, I was just rolling on the floor laughing for a week

I see we share the same sense of humour, don't you just love when one player whose face is almost pale from pain struggles in a 3 hour match only to lose? Damn I could watch it all day.

You know what was even funnier? The fact that Murray already secured a place in the semi-finals but was so obsessed with beating Federer that he got owned by Davydenko in the next round 6-1 6-4 or something.

I just don't like this back door entry to the top. I would have hoped we had Murray, Djokovic and Nadal to challenge Federer.

Of course, if you look at the other results, it becomes obvious Fed's season is better.

Maybe you have forgotten about Donald Young and Alex Bogomolov? lol. But I guess you're pretty good at selective memory.

If Fed wins the title, he had a better year. If he doesn't, it's a toss up.

I know it is absolutely not the subject of this thread, but maybe they should skip the semis for the wtf.
Maybe it will make round matches more challenging for the players, especially those who feel tired or mentally exhausted at the end of the season.
Of course tournament organizers and tv wont agree, but I'm conviced mentally it would help the players give their best and not tank round matches...

The end of year finals are so much more impressive to win because of the fatigue of playing for 10 months saying Federer should have had to beat Murray Djokovic and nadal who he beat handily isn't fair considering they had an opportunity to make it to a point where they would play him they just couldn't cuz their younger legs let them down...

Yeah. Looks like the young fellas maxed themselves out during the regular season to be at the top of the pile. Throws up an interesting scenario for next year though. Fed looks fresh and playing better than he has in a while or at least more consistently well. If he follows the same regime and is at the same level, are the other guys going to be able to put in the same pre season training that they did last year to get back to the the top? Can their bodies handle it or have we reached the physical limit with regards to tennis players and their maximum potential?

I must have missed the special pass that put Roger directly into the finals. Actually, they offered those same passes to Murray, Djokovic and Nadal but they were either too injured, too mentally fatigued or lacking in motivation to take them. Oh those youngsters, they don't make them like they used to.

GO FED!

Exactly.

Just once, I would like to see people stop drawing arbitrary lines and admit the truth: it is a credit to Federer that he is able to perform this well this late in the season and say relatively injury/fatigue/unmotivated-free vs. the other top players....and that is a demerit to the rest of the top 4 that they haven't been able to do what Federer has. They all have their credits -- Djokovic his all-time great season, Nadal his FO, Murray whatever got him to #4 -- but lets be fair here.

I'm sure you don't like Nadal's lone USO win in which he didn't face Federer, or Jokers AO 2008 , or Nadal's WO win over Fed, etc etc for similar reasons.
