Not picking a side but Ive got first hand knowledge of this.

Her training is very good (went from horrible strokes to very solid junior strokes). Now she was so bad that most coaches would have improved her game.

I would agree that Solomon is NOW not doing what he once use to do, and what I posted about. But remember, when I posted this, it was over a year ago. Since he has begun training Peer, he is more often than not AWOL and his academy has suffered as a result.

As for you saying you have first hand knowledge of this, I will remind you and the other readers that I actually live at the club where the Solomon academy is stationed, and I also provide stringing service for many of the juniors and many of the pros that pass thru the academy, so I think that I have a little more "first hand knowledge" of what goes on at that academy.

It's my favorite book on tennis. Very thoughtful, easy to read, and well organized. Best, BHBH

My 12 yo daughter also trained at Solomon last summer for about 6 weeks and I can tell you that the instruction there was top notch. All the coaches there (Mary Giinard, Bill Foreman, tom downs, chris cloer and Solomon) were superb and totally dedicated to all the kids tennis development. There was no need for any private lessons because there was already a lot of 1 on 1 with the each of the coaches. Solomon would spend 1hr , 3 days a week working individually with my daughter and he did that with most of the other kids there also. The only way he was able to do this was that he only had about 12-15 kids to deal with. Also, during fitness my daughter would do fitness with Shahar Peer many times and also Christina Mchale, which was great fun for my daughter. I hear things are changing some and Solomon has backed off some since he is spending a lot of time coaching S. Peer

Seminoleg is your daughters friend that now plays at Solomon owners of lago mar in Ft lauderdale?

I have a question for TennisCoachFLA or Seminoleg or others members that may have some insight into academies in the S. Florida area. I am currently in the process of looking for an academy for my daughter to train at during the entire Summer of 2012. My daughter just turned 12 and plays competitively in the Southern region and Nationally. We live in North Carolina and we tend to spend most of the Summer down in South Florida visiting our families (or at least my wife and daughters do). Last Summer, she spent 6 weeks training at the Solomon Academy in Ft Lauderdale. Although, we felt that the level of instruction and overall experience was superb, it was just to expensive to do it again all next summer plus there was just to few players of her age/level to provide regular match play opportunities and so it was a lot of one on one with instructor, which was absolutely great but she missed not having other kids her age to interact and compete with which made the overall experience less enjoyable and fun for her. And so we are looking for another academy for this coming summer. I am considering 3 at the moment and they are Saviano, Bill clark and extreme tennis academy, I am not interested in Macci. We were very spoiled after experiencing Solomon because the instruction was so personlized but I am looking for something similiar and not just some large, cooky cutting academy with a big name. I want good caring and attentive instructor that can bring out the best in my daughter. Any comments on the above academies or other suggestions. We plan to go down to S. Fla for 1 week in March during spring break to visit and try out 1 or 2 a places before we commit to anything this summer. Your help would be highly appriciated. Thanks

I think so. Solomon's REALLY improved her game.

I hesitate to provide input since my kid has never attended either academy. I can say that I have talked to each of them either at their center or tournaments and they all seem to genuinely care how their students do. Training on Clay is always good and for some better. Having kids her age/ability is also very important.

All of them will give you the rundown of number of kids her age they had training last summer and that also helps. I can put you incontact with someone who trained at Bill Clarks for a good while and they can provide you feedback.

As for spring break you may get a camp with only home schooled kids if Florida is not on break. Could be misleading in how the Full Time Days in the summer would be.

I do suggest you add:

Bill Adams Tennis
Kozlov Academy

They both have a good ratio, produce good performers and in the Broward county area.

Either way I feel pretty certain you'll get good value for your investment of time/money

I would also recommend Dean Goldfine. Solid guy. Played on the tour. Coached on the tour. He has a pretty good group of kids.

I agree that it will be somewhat misleading visiting the academies during our spring break, but I just want a chance to see the facility, observe some of the interactions between the coaches and players and talk to the coaches.

I have not really heard anything about Bill Adams. I tried to look up some information about his program and I can't even find a website for his academy. Is his academy still open?

The only thing I have heard about Kozlov is that he is very hard core, runs things in a militant type fashion.

Can you tell me anything more about why these 2 academies would be a good option for us vs others in the area. Also, can you perhaps suggest any academies down in the dade county that may be worth looking into. Thanks

Bill Adams has a Facebook Page with contact information. yea he's open and his kids doing well. Most play ITF's and USTA events. He doesn't need the WEB to get his students.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bill-A...528440?sk=info

Kozlov can be considered militant several kids that trained with some of the folks you listed train with him now, several of kids he trained train with them now. He's produced good kids. Bottom line he ain't gonna waste your time. He doesn't even take kids that are recreational players.

As for Miami. My daughter played a few events @ REINER HEINSER's academy. Very Professional Events and from the conversations I've had with him I would suggest you consider him. He gave me some of the best advice I still remember to this day.

http://heinsertennis.webs.com/

I'm not reccomending any of these over the others, as what may work for you may not for me and so on.

I will say this, I have been steered to many other academies and I always ask one question:

- Who have they produced? Junior Development is so very different and a guy that produces a good 15 year old may not have that same ability with a 12 year old.

You could also try the Luis Brest Academy at the Sunrise Tennis Club in Welleby. It is west of university off of Oakland. He has a good group of coaches and more or less the age group you are looking for.

Good Luck.

Default Nick Saviano Academy

Hello Tennismonsterr, my 12 yo old daughter plays competively in the southern region and nationally. We are looking for an academy for my her to train this coming Summer. Last Summer we spent it at Solomon's (see my post further along in the thread) but we need to make a change. We have plans in early march, during her spring break, to go to S. FL and visit a couple of academies to see if it would be a good fit. We have 2 days set to play at Saviano's. I see that your daughter is currently attending his academy. Would you mind if I called you so that I get some more information firsthand from someone like yourself that is currently active in the academy. You can email me your # at gastoneye@aol.com and I could call you sometime this weekend. Thanks, I would highly appriciate talking to you.

First time user on Talk tennis. I am not sure if this post was going directly to you or posted with the other post so I was brief with my message. Thanks
