Oh well. Hindsight is always 20/20 but it seems so obvious now that it was a mistake to put Raonic in today. It worries me what it might do to his confidence for a huge match tomorrow.

Can't win a match with a 49% first serve stat. France...71%.

We knew they would be tough but didn't these terrible stats from Canada in doubles.

I’m actually really disappointed in Nestor. Raonic is obviously not a doubles specialist and looked really green out there. He was obviously bothered by the lack of rhythm doubles presents. Nestor, being the veteran should have done way more in terms of talking to Raonic and encouraging him to step it up. He should have been a team captain. Instead he looked really lethargic and instead of lifting up Raonic’s level he slumped down to it. Not only did they both serve terrible, they both returned terrible. It was actually amazing the match was as close at it was. Raonic has a small outside shot at Tsonga but probably not and Pospisil has like zero chance against Benneteau

Brutal doubles match today.

Yesterday, however, bionic Raonic looked positively top-10. Really impressive to see the improvements to his return game, and his consistency in ripping forehand bombs.

I fully expect him to defend at San Jose and do some real damage before the clay court season.

Should be a very interesting year!

I hear what you're saying but instead of putting the blame on Nestor, I place it at the feet of the coaches who put Raonic in there instead of Pospisil. Daniel and Vasek have played together before and been very successful. The coaches should have gone with the proven pair rather than taking a flyer on Raonic's serve.

Maybe Benneteau will be tired tomorrow?

First match would be Tsonga vs Raonic. Hopefully Raonic pulls through.....though Benneteau will easily pick off Poppispil.

Proud Canada got this far since last year tremendous efforts.

I agree completely with your analysis. Not only did Nestor fail to take a leading role, there was nothing in his behaviour that would inspire his partner to win. The rapport scale beteen these 2 reads 0. That they took 2 sets to tie break is quite amazing, especially considering their abyssmal first serve percentage..41%.and the huge age difference between the 2 may have had a bearing on their relationship.

I saw Pospisil and Raonic play doubles together v. Nadal/Djokovic and they were a great pairing...had played together many times and were enthusiastic and determined to win. And are the same age and mind-set.

#%*#@!

http://www.sportsnet.ca/tennis/2012/...out_davis_cup/

There goes whatever miniscule chance Canada had of winning this tie. More importantly, will Milos be healthy enough to defend SJ and not jeopardize the end of his hardcourt season? His ranking will take a tumble if he doesn't defend his 250 SJ Champion points and 300 Memphis finalist points.

Having Milos play doubles yesterday sounds even more silly now.

They just interviewed coach Larendeau and he says the knee flared up overnight. I feel sorry for all the people who paid fairly big bucks for tickets to this 'world class' event and walked into the arena today to be met with this news. What a downer. There was so much hype about this weekend and it sure has fizzled out these last couple days.
