4-1, Martina in the 3rd set, this would be some win for Martina if she hangs on.

Fantastic. When you think about it, it's a match-up she should be able to win. She has amazing control of the ball and should be able to run Davenport around.
Martina has a decent road to the finals. Her quarterfinal match will be against either Myskina or Safina, both of whom she should be able to beat. Then probably Sharapova in the semis. I think Hingis when she's playing a clean match and isn't tired has the right kind of game to beat Sharapova. |

An image of Martina practicing her serves on one of the practice courts at Indian Wells on Sunday morning. She played her match on center court later in the day.

Its deja vu all over again for the Cerebral Assassin. Now lets see if Serena has the stones to step up, take off that size 22 skirt, and compete.

This wasn't that big of an upset was it? Despite the difference in their rankings, Davenport seems almost tailor made for Hingis. She doesn't move well, doesn't play long points well, and doesn't finish well in long matches.
Martina and Maria are only a match away from facing each other. I can't wait. |

I think both players were playing much better in '99. Davenport has now become a choker & is oft-injured(she was advised not to play Indian Wells due to a bulging disc in her back) Still she gave away this match, made so many unforced errors (after blowing Hingis away in the 2nd set) Hingis picked a great time to come back, the players that forced her into retirement aren't playing well anymore(Williams), or are injured(Capriati) or both(Davenport) Sharapova isn't in the same league as those four were a few years ago. |
