i've noticed all the structured strings will begin losing their edge after 2-6 hours.

It's a thinner version if you use a thinner stirng, otherwise it's the same string!

I've noticed that my BHB7 went completely smooth after an hour of hard hitting. But I didn't feel any loss of spin at that point.

Is this a comparable/competitor to RPM Blast? I hope so...it's cheaper!

I've posted about this in the rackets section too, but I'd like to ask here as well;
I strung up my IGPMP yesterday with 17g @ 55lbs (full bed) and just finished playing with it, and it just was not working for me at all today. I'm coming from TF Black code 16, and the BHB7 just felt so "boardy," as if the whole racket tightened up. I did notice the spin, but that was about it. It only felt good when I hit in the sweetspot, but aside from that it just felt bad. The BC just felt plush all around, just not sure what's going on.

I do like the spin aspect of the string so I do want to give it another whirl, but do you guys know if it strings up tight/will it soften up more? I also have a half set of TF X1 BP around somewhere, was thinking about a hybrid with BHB7, has anyone tried that as well?

comments appreciated!

^ Maybe you went to tight, maybe there was a glitch in the stringing, or maybe you're not hitting through the ball enough because the 17 shouldn't feel boardy at 55 (assumed it was on a crank?).

In fact, the Prestige MP was one racquet that I thought the 17 worked very well with (apart from on volleys or in touch play, where that springiness became a hindrance) though the Prestige I used was a leaded up Youtek version.

I strung up my pro tour 630 with bhb7 at 55 mains and 53 crosses and it didnt feel boardy to me, the spin was fantastic as was the control. I got a lot more power than i was expecting. I do have a little bit of led at 3, 9 and also 12 so that may have helped

I think I'm going to have to invest in a reel of this string! it's amazing!!! I can string it up in 40 minutes (I know it seems slow, but that's really stinking fast for me on my gamma x-2) and it plays fine, even if I don't do the best job on it. I like the comfort and the pop that it gives me! (it is way louder and more powerful than Luxilon BB Rough 17 and a bit more forgiving in a way) I think I just need to stick with one kind of string for a while and this might be a winner!

So I hit again today and boy it played so much better. The stringbed loosened up a bit (I tried applying some pressure to middle of stringbed) and played so much softer. I was actually enjoying hitting with it and didnt want to stop!

I guess next time I will string a bit lower or just let the tension settle in. But there were still hints of "boardiness" on some off center hits. But that's to be expected with any string.

Next time string the crosses a little lower which should help

I broke another set of the BHB7 over the weekend. This one lasted a bit longer than the last..i'm thinking somewhere at the 7-8 hour mark. I did notice that the notches really smoothed out toward the end; maybe I missed that on the first set because they broke a lot sooner.

I didn't really notice a big drop-off in spin, despite the smoothing of the strings. I was getting a little annoyed with how my volleys were really spraying out a lot. I barely touched a couple of them and they just took off. So that's the part that is real difficult when i'm playing doubles, not so much in singles. I might have to get a different setup for doubles. I still haven't found the magic middle ground for groundies/volleys. It seems like what you give up in on area will also make another more difficult.

I remember liking Big Hitter Silver before...I may give the Big Hitter Silver Rough a shot, because I've always enjoyed playing with LUX Alu Rough. I remember volleying really well with that string also.

BMR, I've been playing BHSR17 the last few months and enjoying it, its a good combination of power and control with good spin, and its more forgiving on the arm than LUX Alu Rough. I've been going up in tension with it from about 48 to 52 now and am considering 55. Its feels very powerful in the low tension range, curious how it will hit for you at 60.

Strung the 17 gauge up with bhbr 17 as a cross (ran out of bhb7 on the last cross). This is in a 4d 300 tour, strung at 51 lbs constant pull.

I can see what people are saying about the ball really going through the court. The ball really exploded forward in the direction it was hit. It was very different from bhbr.

groundstrokes: plenty of spin, and nice pop. Really helped out my backhand going cross court.

Serves: this is where I struggled. I just couldn't hit flat or kick serves. Slice serves were great though.

Volleys: I play doubles for my varsity team, so I need to have good feel. Fresh, it's ok to volley with. But after 5 hours if play, volleys were tough.

For a singles baseliner with topspin strokes, this is a great string. A bit better than bhbr. A 9.5/10 in my book.

Can anyone give a comparison of the 16 gauge to Genesis Typhoon or Twisted Razor?

I've been hitting with BHB7 17G for two weeks now and love the string... for the most part. Great spin, great power, very comfortable, but the durability is terrible. It's lasting maybe 4 hours per set. Should I go up to the 16G? Seems that the gauges are pretty thin anyway, so maybe 16G wont be too bad?

Try the 16g. For some reason I can't break bhbr 17 but easily break bhb7 17. Haven't tried the 16 yet myself

I've noticed a few of you are using Gamma X2 stringers. How tight are you adjusting your clamps? I just strung a full bed And I couldn't get the clamps tight enough to prevent slippage without marking the string.

I love the way this stuff plays, but I hate stringing it. I find it much harder to weave than BHBR or other polys. It reminds me of stringing Volkl Cyclone.
