Nobody took anything out of your post. I only read and quoted your second post, which made no mention of the lack of lead at 12.

FabFed, could you please post Nadal's specs?
Epic thread, keep up the good work.

The lead is more precisely ending at 11:30 and starting at 12:30 , lol , but yes no 12, but in the 12 zone.

All of the numbers except for the lead tape placement are/were measured. The lead tape figures were just eyeballed.

There are comparatively speaking, a lot of Roddick racquets around (that I've seen sold in pro stock areas) compared to other players. Note that this is only for pro stocks where you can get the name of the player that they are for.

Great thread. I'm still curious about the gripsize. I've heard 4 1/2 somewhere before, and from the pics that looks like it may be correct, but I'd be curious to hear what FabFed (or anyone else with knowledge on the matter) thinks.

Except it's not a Wilson, it's the mold as the HEAD Radical.

I picked up a Radical MP microgel at Academy the other day for $69. I don't like lighter racquets, but at the same time could not pass up this deal. I took it home, put lead around the entire hoop, filled the handle with around 30(+/-5) grams of silicone, and put on a Wilson over-grip (6 grams). Final weight of the racquet without a dampener is 350 grams and around 5 points headlight. A leather grip and an extra over grip could easily bring this to 364 grams and Novak's headlight specs. The amount silicone in Novak's handle will never be known, but you could easily get Novak's exact specs by tinkering with the amount of silicone in the handle.
Point being, I don't believe in these "custom layup" conspiracies. At what point in Novak's career did he go to head and say "take me to the secret room where I can make my own racquet". If he has his own "custom layup", he would not need as much lead as he uses(customizing would be minimal). These guys usually stick to the racquet which made them successful, and there is no need for them to produce a different racquet than what they have playing with their whole life. Fact: He uses Radical MP mold. Fact: You can easily get his specs by duplicated lead placement and silicone in the handle. Conspiracy: He uses a Custom layup. Please do not say this garbage without a credible source. |

So with all that lead tape your balance board is saying it is 5 pts headlight?? Have you taken off the grip to see what is happening under there? He must have more tape there to offset what he puts around the hoop.

How do you get your Radical flex down to the low 50's??? You can put whatever you want in it and you will not get there... THAT is the custom layup... PS: However, if it makes you feel and play good, then, yes, you have the exact, Novak's stick. Go, win it all now |
