So, Miami is really struggling this year with losses in 6 of the last 8 matches. Wow.

Miami used to have a really top-notch program. Virginia currently has a record 85-match ACC winning streak, and I believe the last loss was on our home courts in Charlottesville to Miami in 2007.

...outside of Alabama & Wake, the U's only wins are against the non-big-three Florida schools.

Duke def FSU 4-3. Bucaro and Lock won just like I predicted. Lock is going to be a serious player in this league in coming seasons and Bucaro is suddenly a monster at #3.
UNC def Miami 5-2. Very strong effort from Miami. Actually had a shot to win this as Soto gave up a set lead to Burkhardt and Flores put in the match of his life and lost to Hernandez 7-5 in the 3rd set breaker. Wake just finished off Maryland 4-3. Wake is so weak at 5 and 6, but pretty good at the top positions. Doubles was the key as both teams have strong doubles and Wake was able to edge #2 dubs 11-9 in the breaker. GT def VT 5-2 - Luka Somen routed King 6-2 6-2 but everything else went the Jackets way. Surprised to see the bottom of the line-up go in Tech's way. Virginia def Clemson 6-1 - Rigsby routined Oudshoorn 6-0 6-4 at #6 for the Tigers point. #3 doubles for Clemson also won. Harrington gave up an 8-5 supertiebreak lead to lose to Courtney. Pretty decent performance from the Tigers. (full report will be in the Clemson tennis thread). so I nalied my picks today. Did have Wake and Gt winning Last edited by Clemson_tennis : 04-06-2012 at 03:59 PM. |

Maryland upsets NC State 4-3
NC State has done some serious tinkering with their line-up this year. Mudge is down at 5 after being as high as 2. |

UNC getting close to closing it out. Boyajian one game away vs Davis. FSu needs Reed to fight through the 2nd and comeback vs Stero. (5-5 in 2nd after Stero won the first).
Bucaro continues to roll, beats Hess-Olesen 604 6-2 |

NC State at Wake Forest today 3 pm.
I think Wake has a shot at this. NC State needs to win this to ctop their slide and stay on track for the NCAA's. I will say 4-3 to State. Wake takes doubles, #2 and #3. |

NC State beat Wake today 5-2. Wake won at 3 and 4.
Wake is decent at 1-4. They will be very good next year as all the new guys come in and move the current top players down to the bottom of the line-up. Not to mention Renier Moolman will be eligible. Big one tomorrow. UNC and Duke. Picks? Last edited by Clemson_tennis : 04-10-2012 at 07:37 PM. |

Duke 5-2 or 6-1 if they win dubs
Duke 4-3 if they lose dubs UNC always capable of some big performances at 1,2 if they play their best (like Brennan did vs Carleton this time last year), but I like Duke at both those spots today and too much depth for UNC I would hope |

I think Duke wins by a minimum of 5-2. A 4-3 win would surprise me. I don't see anywhere that UNC should win, but 7-0 predictions are always risky because there is always a surprise at one position in college tennis.

UNc runs away with doubles point. They rout Duke 8-1 at #1 doubles. Certainly makes singles more interesting now.

the interesting thing is that was the last dubs match to finish - so i guess some long games - but i still want to smack those two guys for that kind of dubs performance

3-2 Duke but UNC seems to have all the momentum. UNC up 5-3 in the 3rd at 6 and just took the 2nd set at 2 to force a 3rd set.

Unfortunate that Cunha has failed to get it done in both big ACC matches this year
Hopefully Mengel or Tahir get it done, this would be a rough loss after all the first sets |
