Too funny Mick! I think I'll have to pick one up just so I can use your line...after I win of course!

And yeah, I picked up a Borg Pro (14.17oz strung). First time out hitting with it I couldn't stop laughing at the baseline. I felt like everything was in slow motion (swing-wise) and without much effort the ball was being drilled with a ton of pace to the other side. Really hard to prepare if you have little time. There's no whipping this one around Rafa style that's for sure. I may take it out again for another laugh soon. But I've been having fun with the lighter woods (when I say light, they're usually 13.10-13.35 strung with over grip). They end up being almost identical in weight to my usual stick... K90. Using mostly modern technique, although it's fun to feel the old tech. come into play on an approach, volley put away combo

And there is nothing synthetic about the feel of the wood. You really feel the ball and where it's going. Playing with wood, I feel like my senses are all heightened. Man, I'd love to see the ATP pros play an exhibition with all wood (yeah, I've seen Sampras and a few others break one out). But it would be awesome to have an entire tournament with wood.

i bet if you gave Nadal a wood racquet to play with, in a short time he would figure out how to adjust his strokes to use it well. We are amateurs and could adapt to it, He's one of the all-time great players. It should be no problem for him, I have no doubts

Original or recent Chinese copy........??

Fila re-issued a lot of these jackets but without the Bj logo.
I have a cotton Settanta jacket with the Bj logo but that's a fake.
Originally the jacket was a wool/poly or acrylic mix.
This one in the picture looks like a cotton blend too..
I've never seen the shorts as copies though, they look nice...

I totally agree. I've picked up so many wood racquets lately. The Maxply McEnroe, the Jack Kramer Prostaff, and I played around with the Maxply Fort as well (my stick from when I was a kid in the 70's). I can't get over how different the Maxply McEnroe is from the Prostaff. I mean, I know it's got fiberglass to stiffen it up. But, how John McEnroe jumped from the PS to Maxfort then Maxply McEnroe and continued to play at the same level blows me away. But then you think, well, he's one of the all time greats...

I say bring the ATP wood exhibition on!

Awesome! Guys at my club are joking that my brother and I need to start dressing out of the 70's since we're playing with wood from the 70's. I just might do it!

they all say "made in italy", so i believe they are the originals.

the ones i could not get the originals are the headbands, but the re-released headbands look quite similar to the originals, so it's alright.

biggest difference is my strokes are more like Chris Evert/Tracy Austin than the tennis star from Sweden

haha. For me, it was more of a challenge to get into the condition to wear these form fitting clothing from the 70's than to buy them. I had to exercise for about a year before i managed to become fit enough to wear them

That's good motivation!! Hey, we all need something that motivates us, and now you're better off!

On a serious note, I find the more conditioned I am (working out regularly for the past 6 years now), the more effortless and fun my tennis game is on a whole. I've always been on the light side but I had an office job in my 30's and everything went to pot! I was still thin but the muscles, ligaments and tendons just weren't there. Now I'm back on track and feel as though I'm in the best shape of my life.

the amazing thing about the top tennis players is that they all got a six pack abs, even Serena Williams.

My boss is an iron man participant who is in top physical condition. One time i asked him if he had a six pack. He said no and he worked out a lot.

All this crossdressing talk reminds me of a quote(someone will remember the context) to the effect:
"Yeah, he dresses like Vitas but volleys like Ruta!!!"

I've got the plain navy Boast shorts and solid white polo for that look...even found some canvas(actually hemp) sneaks to wear !

I could barely fit into the Fila and Tacchini stuff BACK THEN...I have NO chance now!

How about an 'Aussie' hat to complete the look!!!

I would pay serious money to have the volleying skills of Ruta

Good point! As I think about it, the quote might have been "SERVES like Ruta"...not that THAT would be any more PC. I'm sure she could have run my behind off the court, but I'll put my serve up against hers. Anyway...I'm just the messenger!
