You should do a search, there is already a huge Pros Pro thread. Either that or contact BigT since he's an authorized vendor.

Default Help for the string ignorant

Hello string experts...
I need options:

4.5 player serve/volley, loopy forehand with heavy topspin, 1hbh, settled on Prestige Pro IG

1. The PP I purchased off of **** had Babolat Pro Hurricane 16 full bed at something like 60 pounds. This was too tight for me and was sneaking up on my tennis elbow at times. It was like a wooden plank at times.

2. I then, per the advice of a tennis shop strung it with a full bed of Luxilon ALU Power Big Banger Fluoro 17 at 50 pounds. I played with it for four hours yesterday, had mild elbow tinge, nothing too bad. I didn't get much more of a pop over the PH setup mentioned in 1, which surprised me. I got an increase in topspin forehand and lefty spin on the serve, maybe 25% more.

I don't think I am sacrificing anything that great if I move away from these setups to remove the risk of significantly damaging my elbow.

Whoever reads this thread or the OP certainly know strings, what am I missing, what should I try next if anything?

I just got done Testing some Pro's Pro strings and will try another round by the end of this month. I will be posting some reviews soon. I have tried Blackout, Vendetta, Hexaspin, and Gutex Ultra all 17g. All the polys as hybrid with Forten sweet 17g as Cross. the Multi as a full bed. For me playability was good for all the strings other than Hexaspin which for me was just too muted and had no feel. I will have more detail in the reviews.

just got back from club. I played the full bed of that stupid black string. I hate it so much. If syn gut is neutral, then that stuff is negative. I would be perfectly happy to play with a full bed of syn gut, but not this crap. It just takes so much work to get anything out of it. You really have to work for every single shot. Worst tennis string in the world. I don't even know why it is made.

LOL my man, bring me your sticks and I'll redo them. I told you it's atrocious, did I not? For those wondering, he's talking about Forten Nylon 15L.

I don't remember stringing any Forten recently though, did you get that done at home on spring break?

actually you did it, It even has your sticker on. It was a more than a month ago, but I had not hit with it yet, and I was like semi fresh strings, why not? Nope I was wrong, I will take dead strings over that forten any time.

Wow, that was a long time ago then. I just looked in my records, and the last time I strung for you was 01/25/2012. That was the Adrenaline Rough/Yonex 850.

not sure about that, one of the stickers says 3/8, but anyway I just don’t understand, on the reel is says competition nylon. No pro would use this. Also nylon is the same stuff prince syn gut is made out of, so why is it not even close to playing like syn gut?

Aha! You are correct. Looked at the wrong info form. Either way, yes, it's nylon, but all string is not made equal! Just about all premium multifilaments are made of nylon in some shape or form as well. Why Forten Nylon is so atrocious, I don't know, but it is pretty much the best string to learn to string with.

yeah, I am trying to scrounge up some money to get some new strings. I can't get the cheap lux stuff untill I get back home. I'll text you when I need help with the labor part. Also on tennis warehouse I noticed that they have a string called big hitter silver rough. Is this anything like alu rough? Also you find out which days if at all you can hit?
