Last winter I was stringing MCS at 48 on a youtek prestige mid.

Plenty of control with that setup for me.

Likewise, strung MCS at 52 on a Microgel Radical Midplus and liked it - feels tight yet good pocketing - great control...

Totally Twister to warm-up my forearm.

I try and do 3 sets of 8 for the Tyler and reverse Tyler twists throughout the day. Usually a set on the way to work, a set at lunch and one on the drive home.

Broke Venom last night. Review forthcoming. Played NXT for 1 set. One word: OVERRATED. Felt like Gamma synthetic gut to me.

Would a flex bar help keep my wrist healthy or is it more for TE?

If yes, which one would you suggest?

mikeler, so out of all of the multis that you have tested, which one is best for control?

I'm surprised. If NXT didn't fray so quickly and cost so much I'd probably still be using it. Maybe I should try Gamma Synthetic Gut. LOL

Not for the wrist, so don't waste your money unless you have elbow issues.

That is a tough one. One could argue that control is only good with a reasonable amount of pace and/or spin at the level I play. For instance, Quasi Gut had great control but the spin potential was so low I hated it.

While Gamma synthetic gut is both of our favorites in the solid core category, NXT costs 4 times as much!

If it didn't break so quickly, was softer, had better control, was not so expensive and gave a me foot rub after each match, I'd consider NXT full time. Seriously, if you are only getting 5 sets out of NXT but love it, then try Gamma synthetic gut. It will only last that long too but at 1/4 the cost, it may behoove you to try 1 set out.

Default Klip Venom Review

OK, here is my review in the TW format of the Klip Venom 16.

The string does look like a snake. It had some minor coil issues but other than that it was easy to work with. The old ball bounce test seems to indicate a lack of spin.

Tension it is strung: 60 pounds on a lockout machine full bed
Your regular string set up: Weiss Cannon Black 5 Edge 17 Mains(52#)/Genesis Thunder Blast 16 Crosses(56#)
Racket: Pro Kennex 7G (this is different than the others tested in the Babolat PST+)String pattern of your racquet: 16 x 20
Power (or lack there of): Low/Medium powered multi
Feel: Average
Tension maintenance: The last reading I got off RacquetTune was 8.1% tension loss.Price: $13.99/set, did not see reels on TW
Overall comments and feedback: See below

General: This is a decent multifilament string but at the price point I expected a little more.

Serve/Return of Serve: Serves were OK, I don't remember many aces. Sometimes 2nd serves were getting pounced on too but other times my opponents were having trouble with it. Returns were just so/so.

Strokes: Adequate spin on both wings but not great. My slice seemed to float at times and I hit too many balls wide. While I can't blame wide balls on the string, I think a lack of confidence in it was causing me to aim for the lines more.

Volleys: Volleys are excellent with this string.

Touch shots: About average.

Softness: This is probably the 5th softest multi I've tested to date. Great for those with arm problems.

Tension: If I had to try it again, I lower the tension slightly to get a little more pop.

Durability: This lasted for 7 sets of singles and 3 sets of doubles.

Movement: String movement was average for a multi meaning it moved a fair amount.

Conclusion: At the premium price, there are certainly others below $10 that play better than this string. The durability was fairly good for me though.

Don't recall you saying this very often, dropping the tension that is.

It was just a little under powered at that tension.

mikeler I have been trying to get my hands on a set of Signum Pro Micronite but don't see anyone that sells it in the U.S. is there a particular reason for this you know of? And where did you get your set from you tried?

I can't mention TW competitors so you'll have to make do with using search engines.

I just strung up Discho Microfibre last night and it seems very similar to Micronite with perhaps a smoother surface and more ghosting. Seemed like it was slightly easier to string than Micronite. The old ball bounce test felt very nice. Looking forward to playing with this one.

Got 2 more sets on Wilson NXT 16. Not a fan at all. I can't point out 1 thing this string does exceptionally well. At the price point, I expected to be wowed.

From the net to prevent tension loss.

Odd that you say that, because the first time I tried it I was wowed. I would have put it next to xcel for playability and feel. I tried it about 5 times after that over the span of about 2 years and I have now come to the same conclusion as you.
