Mr. Vladimir Djokovic literally raised a little Novak taking him to tennis courts every day as his parents were busy running their family restaurant. Yes, they were extremely close.

Some of you blind Nadal worshiper think that Rafa's sh!t smells like roses. Honest to God, I dislike Rafa because of his ******** fan/**** base. Thank God for Djokovic being #1 and Fed still hanging around.
Nadal is in the same house as his parents. Can't any more closer than that. And you are deluded if you think I am comparing one event to the other. You can't put a figure on which event matters more, as it is completely personal and dependent on a number of factors. The point is not to compare, but rather to note that Djokovic spoke about how distracted he was during the final by his grandfather, while Nadal did not even mention his parents divorce. Get it yet? It's not about the event, it's about what was said in the interviews after defeat.

well, of course he was talking about his grandpa, he was asked questions ... duh... Djokovic congratulated to Nadal and didn't offer any excuses.

and to be honest with you, a top tennis player who is a millionaire living with his parents is just sick IMHO. Nadal, who is 25 yo, behaves like he is 15 yo. He can't function without his uncle, without his mom, dad... whatever...I mean which grown up man who has a job, lives with his parents... you tell me?

It's awfully easy to be diplomatic about a personal issue. Surely he isn't that stupid, to feel like he owes something to reporters. He literally focused on it, and rarely spoke about anything tactical or performance-based.

Most people in Asia and Europe do this. 2 forms of it. One, the grandparents live with the grandchildren and parents, so the parents can work, while the grandparents look after the children. And the other form, the Nadals, whereby the only point of moving out is to get married, so if there is no marriage then everybody stays. America tends not to do either of these, and that is probably why America has very poor morals, as young adults are left to their own devices and screw-up.

I know. My problem is not with the idea of experiencing them differently, it's about stating that one is worse than the other as a fact, like you are part of the affected (Nadal's / Djokovic's) family.

listen man. I live in Canada. My parents made me find a job when I was 16yo. by 18, I lived with 4 roommates, working and going to school at the same time. My parents, although pretty wealthy, never game me any money, I had to earn it, and I'm very grateful to them ... for not being raised as a spoiled brat.

There is nothing wrong with granddkids looking after their parents or grandparents. I have many Asian friends here and I do understand that.

But please, but don't tell me that 'America has very poor morals', that's just an utter BS.

Most of North Americans (both Canadians and Americans) are simply raised to be independent. We are raised not to lean on anybody.... we are thought to make our own decisions (good or bad) ... we all have our choices in life ... and I like it that way.

I'm not gonna judge Nadal, he can live with whoever and do whatever he wants to, but I simply believe that is not healthy to live with your parents when you are 25 yo. I would understand if Nadal was poor or handicapped, but he is not. One thing that really annoys me is that Nadal is not using his own brain. It's like everyone else is making decisions for him. It simply goes against all of my believes. And, gosh, if that silly uncle of his would disappear somehow I would become Rafa's fan, lol. Tony is so freaking annoying...

So, my point is that I would like to see Rafa being an independent young man and to start thinking with his own head.

you don't get my point. I assume you live in either India or China, not sure. Please define 'moral'. What we have is freedom to do whatever we want to with our lives. Yes, some young or old people make stupid choices, but it's the same everywhere in the world... you guys simply live in repressed societies ... I believe that America is involved in too much sh!t around the world. As a Canadian am against all wars, Afganistan, Iraq ... whatever. I hate their politics and their desire to sell some democracy to everyone... it's all about their own interest ... however, an average American citizen has freedom to do whatever the hell they want to with their lives ...

again what is moral to you? e.i. are you against gay people? are you against prostitution? you may not like it but Europe and North America are still the most civilized places in the world.

Have you ever been in America? Well, I have and I have met many wonderful people. How dare you to call it a dump. I think you watch too much TV.

LMAO. This really made my day. Thanks for the laughs, dear chap.

Flam, I totally agree - we don't know how much these two things affected them.

Evans77, thanks for informing us about how close Noel's gp was -- had no idea.

Don't waste your time in a discussion with a great mind like NSKs. For all you know, he wear Levi's, watches American flicks, drools over Brooklyn Decker, has stashes of pics of American models in his laptop (rather scantily clad), watches all the American programs on telly and then criticizes American morals.

I don't think he lives in India, his timezone of posting is more like US, or maybe west Europe, not Asia.

Anyway, I am changing my sig/profile to:

______________
Senti: over 25 and lives with parents.

Awesome points, Evan. But I think you're wasting your time. Nadal Slam King once compared Nadal with Einstein's genius. I think that about says it all

oh did he? lol
I guess you are right. I just love tennis, and I will never understand people who are blind *****... sure I have my favorites too, we all do, but I just simply don't understand how some guys can be so blind. and obviously I'm wasting my time with this kid, but I will not tolerate stupidity. We can all agree to disagree, and sure we sometimes tend to be opinionated, it's in human nature ... but this kid trying to teach us what 'moral' is, please ... insulting American people ... BS about his God Nadal, it's just too much ...

I cant think of another professional sports athlete that is so strange. Its not even close. Nadal is a man child who probably couldn't exist even with his endless cash to burn thorugh. I wouldn't be suprised if his parents get his money and give him an allowance to live on.

Stop being a retard please, pretty much everyone has been though/will have to go though death of grandparents, it's sad, you will grief, but mostly everyone learns to move on. That is just not true for divorce of parents.

LOL I've never even been to India/China, and I don't plan on ever visiting them.

Hey, it is impossible to justify the fact that George Bush can win an election.... and the present republican clowns are even more cringe-worthy.

I was surprised by the score on one hand, but on the other not. Yet I knew, on tennis forums or comment-allowed sites you'd have threads like this: either trying to make excuses or dismiss the reality of losing an important figure in one's life and how it can affect how you perform in your profession.

Alternatively, you always have the troupe of Nadal fans doing making excuses for him when he loses. I miss the old days where the battles were on-court or between the players and not the self-identified "supporters" who really make it into a farce.
Have you got proof that I'm trying to make excuse for Djokovic? The reason I started this thread is to discuss what is right now (in my opinion) most important question in men's tennis : will Novak be mentally ready for FO considering that his grandfather died.
