Let the controversy begin again.

L-Tec 3S 17 / L-Tec Gut 17

Stringing: Alas, the final L-Tec test from PV Audio (whatever my opinion is worth!). Strung easily, the 3S is moderately stiff, but nothing outrageous. If I closed my eyes, I wouldn't be able to tell that the "Gut" is not Wilson NXT. It has that same lumpy kind of feel to it. Will see this afternoon if this hybrid is any good, but already, this is a no-lose game for the L-Tec diehards. If I like it, as in it's ungodly, then they win. If I don't like it, then it wasn't the right hybrid, right tension, wrong stringing method, wrong racquet, wrong playing style, etc. Whatever, I'm here to test strings and not Area 51 claims. Strung 48/52.5

And yes, in case you're doubting, it is L-Tec 3S and not just silverstring:

Looking forward to hearing about this hybrid. Would have prefered the 5 sided string in the mains, but I'll settle for the 3.

Dont be so demanding or PV will change his mind and wont test it.

Oh, another little game like with the massage roller: first person to identify my pencil chooses the cross string I use for the next 3 months. My mother bought it for me in high school, and I've used it every day since then

I've always wondered why the string companies have such bad lettering. Check the L-Tec Premium lettering in the pic.

Besides the initial feel of the string, it will be interesting to see when you see drastic changes in tension loss, control and playability. This I think is the most important thing, when does LTEC loose its magic- after 5 hours, 10 hours, 15 hours, 20 hours.... 40 hours...?

Don't worry Mikeler, i've got your back. I just had LTEC 5S Black / LTEC "Gut" done at 44/46. I was hoping to get a few more hits in with it before i report back. I can say that the LTEC 5S Black does have a B5E hit quality to it, but not as dead feeling.

In the near future I will try LTEC 5S black (mains) and LTEC Flex black (crosses), Right now Im using LTEC 5S sterling (44) and LTEC 3 S black crosses (46) and it feels soft and controlable in a stiff APD GT. IM just at the 4 hour mark.

Pretty sure the PPA is breaking tonight. The black coating is gone in one spot, and it just looks like fishing line in that spot now. Once it does, I'll finish my BHB7/PPA review. Silverstring/OSGM already broke, not going to bother with a full update on that. It just wasn't the right cross string.

PPA broke on the first hit of mini tennis. BLAH. BLAH! That left the L-Tec. I just want to cut it out and move on. It's like all of the other premium polys I've tested here, good, but not for me. It's just too soft, spin isn't exactly insane, and there isn't much responsiveness. It's like playing with the BHB7/PPA but with a dampener, and without the spin. Just feels muted.

Don't you have to string with the magic sauce?
Otherwise the stringjob is worthless, n'est-ce pas ?

I just feels like a multi. Absolutely nothing like natural gut. It's too muted.
