Does Anybody remember the type of Wilson Andrea used to play with?

It was the Wilson Ultra Standard.

Jaeger used the Wilson Ultra Standard first (I think it was 75 square inches), then switched to the Ultra 2 Mid in 83 or 84. She used that racquet when she played the Wimbledon final.

I believe that Ken Rosewall used the exact same progression, when he switched to graphite.

That photo is the Wilson Ultra. It only came in one head size...slightly smaller then the standard wood frames (65 s.i.), closer to 62 or 63 s.i.
In 1984, Wilson introduced the Ultra 2, in three sizes - standard (still sub-65 s.i.), midsize (80-85 s.i.), and oversize (100+ s.i.). I played the Ultra 2 as a junior...still have a Standard size frame I hit with once in a blue moon....a great frame to practice with to hone your strokes...makes hitting with my KPS88 feel like a 110 s.i. after hitting for 30 minutes with the Standard Ultra! |

...I also noticed there were two slightly different versions (graphics) of the Ultra;
a first one named Ultra/PWS, with PWS plaques with "Wilson" written on them; and a second one, called Ultra/Graphite, with "PWS" written on those plaques. |

In the picture of Andrea in her sisterly garb (from the link), the racquet is a Pro Kennex not a Wilson.

this one should be the first version
![]() ![]() I noticed Wilson made two versions of this Ultra racquet: the Ultra/PWS with "Wilson" written on the PWS spots; and a later Ultra/Graphite with the usual "PWS" writing placed there .. |

When I saw her featured on "60 Minutes" years ago, I thought I saw her hitting with a Wilson ProStaff 6.1 95. Maybe I'm wrong....
15 years ago, when I was on a small jet flying into Aspen, I saw her put her Wilson 6-pack bag in the overhead compartment. If I sat near her then, I would of asked what her latest racquet of choice was. |

I have the Wilson Victory wooden racquet at home..with original strings. It's actually quite powerful.
