Default Removing weight from a racquet?

Ive got a pair of matched racquets that almost perfect. I love most everything about them.

I think they would be perfect if I could somehow shave off 2-3 grams.

Any ideas how one might do that to a stock racquet.

FYI they are 360grams strung.

Really only 2 options:
Change the grip.
Try a lighter type string.

I'd recommend changing the grip, go for something lighter.

You have a matched pair at 360g without any added weight?

If you use a dampener, you can change to rubber bands and save a few grams there

If you can tell apart 2 gram difference from 360 gram racquets, you have super-human abilities...

Drill holes in it. You didn't say anything about it still being playable!

Thinner strings. Lighter grip. Mood swing. Attitude change. Reality check.

If you could tell us more about your racquet/string/grip setup, that would help a lot. Knowing that they're matched is useful certainly, but tell us more. What string type and gauge to you have in there? What's the grip and overgrip situation? Any mods done to it in the matching process? (i.e. lead tape, silicone, etc.)

using 17g poly, 1 wilson overgrip, and a samp dampener.

I guess they are not entirely matched. I had them measured on rdc machine when i purchased them and i bought the 2 had exact same swingweight and blance points, one was just 3grams heavier....

Don't worry about it and go smack the ball! Really, 3 grams will not make that much difference. If you shave 3 grams off of one then the SW's will not be the same and you will be back on here asking how to get the SW's the same.

of course you can feel 2 gramm, if you are a good player.
best method is to shave off some paint or trimm the bumper. that way you can remove weight exactly where you want to.

The rackets are over 99% exactly the same. My rackets are the similar - same balance 6 HL, SW 335 and 334 on iPhone app, static weight 346 and 343+ just under 3 gram difference.

I am not messing with them, 99+% exact match which is a good tolerance level.

Honestly, I probably could not swing them and tell the difference in a blind test.

Where do you want to remove the weight from. I don't know that racket but you can usually remove material from inside the handle under the butt cap for a more head heavy racket or trim or drill holes in the bumpers for more head light. You can easily remove 3 grams.

I have the same problem as OP!

I decided that I could live with 3g, providing they balanced the same. This can make a real difference - as anyone who has added an extra 3g of lead to 12 O'clock will know.

Now I can't really feel the difference...the problem is I know there is one!!!

SwingSock. It's a wrapper around a racquet which adds about 12 oz of weight.
Swing that for 15 minutes, then get your normal racquet. You would not believe how light your racquet is, and how easy it is to swing.

This raises the question in my mind as to how weight is added to a racket in stock form. For example, is a Dunlop Bio 200T essentially of the same material construction as say, a Bio 500. HM6 carbon etc. But the difference in weight is huge. So if the process of adding weight in stock form takes place, can it not be reversed??? I'm asking because I don't know how this increase in weight is acheived unless the base material used to make the racket frame is different.

With most heavy rackets tending to be very head light and light rackets closer to being head heavy, are there weights/silicone or something else going into the handle cavity to add this weight??

With regards to the OP's question. If significant weight can be removed by reversing this process, then the OP can easily add weight back until the desired weight is acheived.

May be not by the weight, but the feel when swinging the racket.

If you want to know if you can feel it, just remove that 2-gram grip-holding rubber band, or move it just two centimeters off it's place.

BTW, if you play my modded 370-gram racket, you might think it's only 340 grams.
