I demoed the X-Dual Gold 94. It's a totally different racquet. I honestly don't see the X-Duals as being something someone would want to play with other than for the challenge, or maybe if you're super strong and just can't control other racquets.

thanks Marlin. are the x-duals supposed to be more at the players end or tweener end (relative to the Pro One)?

Calling the X-Dual (at least the Gold and Platinum, I didn't try the Silver) a player's stick is an understatement IMHO. They'd be great for a spin doctor, but for me I found an off-center shot will easily twist the racquet in your hand and they are VERY low powered.

the specs for the Pro One 18x20 are up... I wonder if that means they will be available soon.

Good catch! TW, if your reading, any input on this?

I demo'd the Dual Pro from Donnay (they say the Pro One 18x20 will have the same specs) and really liked it; a bit more control than the Pro One (16x19) but with still the same amount of power. Will be interesting to see if the PO 18x20 really is the same racquet just different cosmetics, or if there are slight differences.

I feel committed the Pro 1 16x19 by virtue that a bought a bunch. I'm almost afraid to demo the 18x20 cuz I don't want to have to switch! Kal El & Suppawat have commented a bit on the 18x20 in an older thread. IIRC, the opinions expressed were that the 18x20 did have noticeably more control. Cannot recall if they thought the power level was equal. Will be interested to see both frames on the TW power map.

I didn't expect the specs to be so different. Slightly heavier, more headlight, and stiffer. I'm glad I didn't wait for my purposes.

good find, looks like good specs too besides the flex part. its getting abit up there, combined with a more dense string pattern, might not be as comfy as the 16 x 19.

funny how the recommended string tension is 40-60. such a wide range.

out of all the sticks i've own, these P1 have to be the worst string breakers. im already on my 5 restring on both racquets.

my old Prince POG OS, has now been beaten in this department.

I'm thinking it's your string choice or you hit über hard. I get my normal string life with the P1. Full multi lasts 10-12 hours. Hybrid = 12-14. Full poly I usually don't break because I restring after 12+ hours. Other 16x19 pattern racquets are about the same for me. Are you coming from a racquet with a denser pattern? Do you use really thin gauge strings or high tension? Just curious.

yeah, im a hard hitting 5.0 spinner who hate the feel of polys, i now use 16g strings and have been using my pt57a 18 x20 for a long time, the strings on that stick lasted twice as long as the P1.

think i have to start putting poly mains in this P1 to save some money, when you have kids, man, it gets abit tight sometimes.

5.0 heavy spinner....Poly?? you may need kevlar in that thing! And believe me I know about needing to save few bucks on tennis stuff cuz summer camps are around the corner, and violin lessons and the like. I had to moonlight just to buy a couple of Pro 1's!!!

Nice find! The spec on TW seems very different from the Dual Pro I used to play, especially the RDC68 stiffness. Not really sure if I can play it but 6pts HL is definitely a good enhancement over 4pts HL of the Pro One 16x19. It seems Donnay trying to add more power by increasing stiffness rather than keeping high swingweight.

Kind of agree Not only the Gold 94, but all thin beam racquets are for specific group of players. Those who tried the X-Series or X-Dual end up either really love or really hate the frames. No one said X-Dual/X-Series are average racquets.

Suppawat, I've got a Dual Pro 1 coming my way. Any thoughts on string and tension that you found worked? I typically use gut/poly hybrid in other racquets; curious how this might work in the DP. I'm a 4.0 all courter, 1hbh, singles and doubles. Thanks.

X-Dual Pro is a low powered racquet. I tried Donnay X-Poly/X-Syncore at 52 lbs, and loved the feel of this hybrid. The only problem is low power. Then I changed main string to Weisscannon SilverString and it helped. Now I use a test poly string at 52 lbs (look like ALU Power Rough, but softer) and lead tape at 10/2 and 4/8. It plays much better.

Hi suppawat, does the stiffness of the Dual pro play softer than what the rating says it is like the pro one? or is it quite abit more stiff?

I think it plays softer than 64RA. May be 55-58.

Can anyone compare the Pro 1 to the new Pure Drive 2012 model?

I know you tried the Formula 100....how does that compare with the Pro1?
